    Seeing a flashing folder with a question mark on your screen? If you’re encountering the error code 2006f during attempts to reinstall the OS, reformat the computer via internet recovery process, or boot using the Alt+Cmd+R command, there may be other problems affecting your computer’s booting. This error can also occur when booting via a public network. Don’t worry, we’ve listed steps to repair the internet recovery mode error -2006f on your Mac.

    Fixing Error Code – 2006F

    The first thing you have to do is to reset your Mac’s PRAM or NVRAM. PRAM or parameter random access memory is what old Macs use while NVRAM or non-volatile random access memory is what newer versions use. However, the steps in resetting PRAM and NVRAM are the same. To reset your PRAM or NVRAM, follow these steps:

    1. Shut down your computer.
    2. Turn it on and immediately press and hold Option + Command + P + R.
    3. Release the keys after about 20 seconds as your computer restarts. (If you are using Mac with the sounds on, you can release during the second chime but if you are using iMac Pro, you need to release the keys when you see the Apple logo appear and disappear for the second time.)
    4. Open system preferences after startup to adjust any settings you want to change.

    You can also use Mac repair app, a third party tool, to optimize your RAM and improve your computer’s performance.

    If your Mac is still experiencing the same error, you may also need to reset your System Management Controller or SMC. The SMC controls various low-level functions including battery and thermal management, responding to presses of the power button and the opening or closing of the display lid, keyboard backlighting, and ambient light sensing among others.

    Resetting SMC is different for every Mac version. So before you take any steps, verify what model and year your computer was released to avoid more errors.

    If you’re using a Mac notebook, check first if the battery is removable or not. If the battery can’t be removed, follow these steps:

    1. Go to Apple menu and choose Shut Down.
    2. After shutting down, press Shift-Control-Option and the power button all at the same time.
    3. Hold for 10 seconds and then release all keys.
    4. Press the power button again to start up your computer.

    If you have a Mac notebook with a removable battery, follow these steps:

    1. Shut down your computer.
    2. Remove the battery.
    3. Then, press and hold the power button for at least 5 seconds.
    4. Reinstall the battery that you removed earlier.
    5. Then press the power button again to boot up your computer.

    If you’re using a Mac desktop, these are the steps you need to take to reset the SMC:

    1. Shut down the computer by going to the Apple Menu.
    2. Unplug the power cord after shutdown.
    3. Wait for 10-15 seconds.
    4. Plug the power cord back.
    5. Wait for 5-10 seconds before turning on your Mac.

    For iMac Pro:

    1. Shut down your Mac.
    2. Press and hold power for 8 seconds.
    3. Release the power button and wait 5-10 seconds.
    4. Turn on your iMac Pro again by pressing the power button.

    Looks like no one’s replied in a while. To start the conversation again, simply

    ask a new question.

    I installed windows 10 on my mac, and I cannot choose the operational system, so I erased the ssd. And now I can’t re-install the operational system, just show a file blinking and when I try the command + R start the internet recovery and show the error -2006d. Anyone else can help me?

    Obs. The english is not my language, sorry for the mistakes.

    Considering you can’t boot into an OS, the first things I’d try are resetting the NVRAM and SMC. Below are the steps for doing so, as well as the order you should do it.

    1. Reset the NVRAM

    Older Macs had what’s called Parameter RAM (PRAM), newer Macs use Non-Volatile Random-Access Memory (NVRAM). Here’s how to reset it on your particular Mac:

    1. Shut down your machine. Yes, a full shut down, not just logging out.
    2. Press the power button and then press the commandoptionpr keys. You have to make sure you press these keys before the gray screen appears or it won’t work.
    3. Hold those keys down until your Mac reboots again and you here the startup chime.
    4. Let go of the keys and let your Mac reboot normally.

    Note: When you log back in you may need to readjust some of your system preferences (e.g. speaker volume, screen resolution, startup disk selection, time zone information, etc).

    2. Reset the SMC

    Here’s what you do to reset the SMC on your particular Mac:

    1. Shut down your computer
    2. Keep the MagSafe adapter (power cable) plugged in.
    3. Press at the same time shiftoptioncontrol (on the left side of the keyboard) and the power button
    4. Let go
    5. Turn your computer back on with the power button.

    Once you’ve done both of these, check to see whether the problem behaviour (i.e. an inability to enter Internet recovery) is still present. Let me know how you go.
