This error is one of the most encountered errors in ANSYS® products. The solution to this ANSYS® license error is somewhat basic. Here we summarized the solution to the License error of ANSYS®.

How To Solve License Error OF ANSYS®?

License server error ANSYS®.

When you double-clicked on ANSYS® Workbench to open it, an error box appeared like above after the interface of ANSYS® is opened.

YOU CAN LEARN ANSYS® IN MECHANICAL BASE; Click And Start To Learn ANSYS®!

First of all, you need to check your ‘HOSTNAME’. To do it, open the ‘ANSYS® License Management Center’ by searching it from ‘Start’ at Windows. And run it as administrator. In your default browser, your license situations will be shown as below.

License manager situation of ANSYS®.
Click on ‘Get System Hostid Information’.

In this interface, click on ‘Get System Hostid Information’ as shown by the red arrow above then check your hostname and hostids as shown by the green arrow above.

So you need to start ‘Client ANSLIC_ADMIN Utility 1x.x’ from ‘Start’ of your Windows. x’es refers to your version such as ANSYS® 17.1 etc. Run it as administrator.

From the opened interface, click on ‘Specify The License Server Machine’. A second window will be opened. Then click on ‘Add Server Machine Specification’ from this window.

Enter your hostname into that section.

After clicking on ‘Add Server Machine Specification’, copy your HOSTNAME that is shown by the green arrow previously, then paste it to the ‘Hostname 1’ section. Then click on the ‘OK’ button to save it. Then click on ‘Close’ to the first window.

Retry to open your Workbench.

Description/Cause

Caused by recent licensing changes, Ansys installation or upgrade. 

  • Importing a model will not prompt the user to select an alternate license, though you are prompted to select a license when opening the application directly from the Windows Start Menu. 
  • The application may attempt to check-out an additional license.

*The cause(s) we identified in this documented instance may not be the only cause(s) for this error.

Solution

Specify Alternate License

The alternate SpaceClaim license will need to be selected manually.

  1. Close all Ansys applications. 
  2. Open SpaceClaim from the Windows Start Menu
  3. Select File > SpaceClaim Options                                                                           
  4. Select License > Specify Alternate License to use
  5. Close SpaceClaim and reimport your model.  

Fluent 2022R2 Known Bug

There is a known bug in Fluent 2022R2, which causes reading of *.scdoc in watertight geometry workflow to checkout an additional Preppost license. This workaround is available. 

  1. Close all Ansys applications. 
  2. If using Windows, navigate to C:Users<username>.fluent (for Linux %Home%/.fluent )
  3. If ‘.fluent’ file is not present, please create it with Notepad or download it here, and rename it as ‘.fluent’, removing the .txt extension. Add the script below to the ‘.fluent’ file, proper spacing and filename are critical:
  4. Check that the script has been successfully implemented by launching Fluent
  5. Retry your import.

Could not connect to any license server.
The server is down or is not responsive.

Step-by-step guide:

1. Run Server ANSLIC_ADMIN utility (as administrator)

2. Click Stop the ANSYS, Inc. License Manager

3. Open command prompt and enter netstat -a. Scroll down and you should find port 1055 in use.

4. From the ADMIN Utility, click Specify the License Server Machine

5. Click Edit Selected Server Machine

6. Change ANSYS FLEXlm port number to any port number other than 1055 (ex. 1056) and click OK

7. Go to the folder Program FilesANSYS IncShared FilesLicensing and open license.dat using notepad. Change the port no. to the one you set above and save.

8. From the Server ANSLIC_ADMIN utility, click Install the License File

9. Browse for the edited license.dat file

10. Click Start the ANSYS, Inc. License Manager

So I used to get this error from ANSYS CFX for almost a week:

Failover feature «ANSYS BladeModeler» specified in license preferences is not available.
Request name acfx_bldmdlr does not exist in the licensing pool.
The desired vendor daemon is down.
Check the lmgrd log file, or try lmreread.
Feature : acfx_bldmdlr

Then I realized it was because my antivirus was expired. When I uninstalled my antivirus from the system and restarted it again, I didn’t get the error any more. I’m wondering why that happened.

I get the same error as Padideh did, but in ubuntu 12.04 from ANSYS 14 with FLUENT. The only difference is:

During usage of ANSYS EM, you may encounter issues like the one below.

Fail to enable feature using current license setting. Note that pro, premium, enterprise licenses are available on your server. To use these licenses check the corresponding UI option. For more information, search "PPE" in the help documentation. Failover feature "HFSS SBR+Solve" is not available. Request name hfssbr_solve does not exist in the licensing pool. The resolution is to activate the correct product licensing which are not activated by default. See the Pix on how to activate the licensingsee less.

В менежере лицензий статус везде RUNNING(Ansys 14)    но при запуске Static Structural например вылетает такая ошибка

Request name agppi does not exist in the licensing pol

FLEXlm sever is not responding. Resource temporality not acailable

1030 потому что пытался менять сервер. На 1055 такая же ошибка

While executing docker run, a license server replies with an error:

ANSYS LICENSE MANAGER ERROR:
Failover feature 'Ansys Mechanical Enterprise' is not available.
Request name ansys does not exist in the licensing pool.
No socket connection to license server manager.

License path:  2325@lic-ansys.ethz.ch:
FlexNet Licensing error:-7,10015
 *** ERROR - ANSYS license not available.

Is it possible to disable that feature?

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Open terminal
  2. Execute command
docker run -e ANSYSLMD_LICENSE_FILE="2325@lic-ansys.ethz.ch" -p 50052:50052 docker.pkg.github.com/pyansys/pymapdl/mapdl:v21.1.0 -smp -aa_t_i

Expected behavior
A MAPDL gRPC server is started.

First off, it’s great that you’re able to get docker on Windows to run MAPDL. Let’s figure out the academic licensing issue.

I’ve noted a few issues:

  • Port 2325 no longer required for 2021 R1 applications. It looks like you’re using a legacy license server line from ansyslmd.ini
  • The academic license is now set by the license server and not by the application. Hence, including -aa_t_i will still fetch the ansys product license, but it’s expected that the license server will have special keywords. For example:
INCREMENT ansys ansyslmd 2021.1231 31-dec-2021 500 6D133224352D 
VENDOR_STRING="customer:00000054 tp:a" 
SUPERSEDE ISSUED=27-aug-2020 START=27-aug-2020 SIGN2="00BF F28C "

Where tp:a has been added to VENDOR_STRING

Recommendations

  • I’d make sure that your license server has been upgraded to at least 2021R1 and then switch to port 1055. Both the 2021R1 and 2021R2 docker images will support a 2021R1 license server. The license file used should be the academic license issued by Ansys. Please ask the Account Manager for an updated license file.
  • Consider reading the (internal) documentation hosed by Ansys at 2021R1-Licensing-Updates-Academic.pdf
  • Also, consider posting on Ansys Learning Forum. They may be able to address any additional licensing issues there as well. It’s a good place to post issues related with licensing, and there are a few good answers there as well that you might find helpful

I tried to run the docker with port 1055 to no avail. I’ll check with IT support about 2021R1 license.
On my machine I have ANSYS2020R2. I’d like to try a docker with the license I have already. Do you provide a docker image for that version?

hello everybody
I’ve installed Ansys 13 on a AMD 64 bit machine (OS: Xubuntu 11.10) and I got a little problem with license management.
After starting the system, the license manager is not running, thus I can’t use IcemCFD.
So I launch ANSLIC_ADMIN and click on «Start the ANSYS Inc. License Manager», but, even after waiting some minutes, the box in the bottom-left corner displays «FLEXlm: not running».
The log file shows that the problem is the 1055 port already in use, in fact now there are two lmgrd processes running, even if before clicking on «Start the ANSYS Inc. License Manager» there wasn’t any!
If I kill the process using the 1055 port, then everything works and I can use ANSYS ICEM.
May anybody tell me why two lmgrd processes start?
(the license is on my computer!)

Hi,

FlexLm issues can make crazy minds. I tried to change port numbers or many things found from the internet. However, still not succeeded.

Interesting issue here is FlexLm firstly running then chaning to not running a few seconds later. Besides, in task manager, 9 lmgrd is working simultaneously.

I have the same problem with FLEXlm not running with ANSYS13 installed on ubuntu 12.04 LTS 64 bit.
I tried the solution proposed by gaurav_prabhudesai, but it did not work for me. Did someone find another solution or have some ideas?

I had this problem in the past with a kubuntu distro (remember that ubuntu/kubuntu distros are not officially supported by ansys); in this thread there is a partial solution, but you have to manually kill one lmgrd process..

Thank you for your reply. I tried your solution but, apparently, does not work for me. When I run ps -A before clicking on «start the ansys inc license manager» I have no lmgrd process running, like you. But when I click on «start the ansys inc license manager» and the run ps -A I have only one lmgrd process, not two.

I found my own solution! Finally!

Here is what I have done:

1. Modify the license.txt, changing the host name with its ip address (127.0.1.1 in my case). You can find it in your /etc/hosts.

2. Install the license.

3. Start the license manager.

4. Run ps -A > ~/Desktop/ps.txt. In the ps.txt file you will find two lmgrd processes, kill the first one. In my case killing the second one did not work (I do not know why!).

5. That’s it!

Normally the license file top line has machine address and port number on it. If you are connected to interenet sometimes the IP changes due to DHCP. and this also changes the MAC address (machine address). that is pretty strange though! Anyways, if Flexlm is not running, open command prompt and type ipconfig /all and it will display the hardware address. Match it with the one in license file. If it is not there then regenerate the license file, restart your machine and hopefully Flexlm will start running.

PS: No need to experiment with port number.

I have similar problem, when i open Server ANSLIC_Admin Utility, at the left bottom corner the message says «FLEXlm:not running».
I tried with changing the port number, and other suggestions from the friends above, but unfortunately none of it worked..
Kindly help me resolve the issue.

Hopefully, you must have restarted a lot during this time and did not get Flexlm running. So if it is still not working try to see if some other application is uisng the flexlm or not. If yes, then try to stop its service during start up. Make sure that you get ANSYS to read correct license file. Type ipconfig /all in command prompt to see physical address. This must match with your Mac address in license file, something like ae405c …. . See in the ANSLIC_Admin… that if license machine is correctly specified by the name of Pc and this name should also be the same in license file as well.

No use doing the above mentioned.. I hav tried most of d solutions on the internet as far as ANSYS 12,13 &14 v r concerned for win7x64 but the magnitude dld is sorta kool in a way if and only if ur system OS is fresh and new.. one n only solution guys.. format your c drive.. put a new OS the first thing u shall be installing will be ANSYS.. Start by installing the lic mngr frst n dn ise d calc file to generate lic file.. add a license n dn nw use d ansys setup to install all d ansys files. cheers.. simulate life!!

Hello everybody, I’m a student and I would like to install the ANSYS student version 17.2 on my laptop. I downloaded and install the soft, everything was ok exept one error:

«Could not connect to any license server.
The server is down or is not responsive.
ANSYSLI_SERVERS: 2325@David
FLEXlm Servers: 1056@David»

I tried to fix this issue by changing the port number as explained here (on the forum) and there : https://johnkaisercalautit.wordpress…-flexlm-error/

But i don’t have the «license.dat». What I have is this : «ansyslmd_2016.10.20_18.47.46.ini». However I already have changed the Port number on this file. Unfortenately it still does not work.

I read this solution in Internet :
«1. Run Server ANSLIC_ADMIN utility (as administrator)
2. Click Stop the ANSYS, Inc. License Manager
3. Open command prompt and enter netstat -a. Scroll down and you should find port 1055 in use.
4. From the ADMIN Utility, click Specify the License Server Machine
5. Click Edit Selected Server Machine
6. Change ANSYS FLEXlm port number to any port number other than 1055 (ex. 1056) and click OK
7. Go to the folder Program FilesANSYS IncShared FilesLicensing and delete license.dat.
7.1 Go to the folder �MAGNiTUDE� (that can be found from the installation disc)
7.2 Double click �ap121_calc.exe� , then click �Y� and continue. A text file �license.txt� will be generated
7.3 Open the generated license.txt and edit the default port number to the number previously changed at ANSYS FLEXIm port number, then save it.
8. From the Server ANSLIC_ADMIN utility, click Install the License File
9. Browse for the edited license.txt file
10. Click Start the ANSYS, Inc. License Manager and the status should suppose show up as:
�ANSYS, Inc. License Manager status:
Licensing Interconnect: running
Licensing Interconnect Monitor: running
FLEXlm: running� «

But I did not succeed in finding the folder MAGNITUDE (I don’t have any installation disc because I downloaded ANSYS from their website)

What can I do to fix that problem ?

Description

Are you unable to checkout a license or properly open your Ansys software?  This article will help you ensure the client can successfully communicate with the License Manager (aka License Server).

Delete

Don’t Rely on the «Test» Button

The Test button found in the Client License Settings app in versions 2021 R1 and later is only a partial test and should not be relied on. It only tests FlexLM connectivity over port 1055 and does NOT test connectivity with the Vendor Daemon process over the dynamic port or the Ansys Licensing Interconnect process.  Use the solutions below to accurately determine connectivity status.

Solution

Step #1 — Test Connectivity with the License Manager

Client Versions 2021 R2 & Later

Two processes and ports must be running and able to be communicated with on the license server in order for clients to connect to it.

  • FlexLM Process — Port:1055
  • Vendor Daemon Process — Port: Dynamic‍

Delete

Client Version 2021 R1

Two processes and ports must be running and able to be communicated with on the license server in order for clients to connect to it.

  • FlexLM Process — Port:1055
  • Vendor Daemon Process — Port: Dynamic‍

Client Versions 2020 R2 & Prior

Any Version — Alternative Test Methods (Client Software Not Required)

Below are some alternative methods to test connectivity with the License Manager, in particular, three of the methods below do not require the client software to be installed or functioning.

Three processes and ports must be running and able to be communicated with on the license server in order for clients to connect to it:

  • FlexLM Process (lmgrd.exe) — Port:1055
  • Vender Daemon Process (ansyslmd.exe) — Port: Dynamic‍ 
  • Ansys Licensing Interconnect Process (ansli_server.exe) — Port:2325 (Required for Client Versions 2020 R2 and Prior only)

Test Success Failure
FlexLM
(Ansys Client Software Not Required)

From the client computer > Open Powershell and run the following command

Test-NetConnection -ComputerName YourLicenseServerNameOrIP -Port 1055


Can take up to 30 sec to fail
Ansys License Interconnect
(Ansys Client Software Not Required)

From the client computer > Open Powershell and run the following command:

Test-NetConnection -ComputerName YourLicenseServerNameOrIP -Port 2325


can take up to 30 sec to fail

Vendor Daemon
(Ansys Client Software Not Required, but License Server Access is required)

Step #1 — Identify the Port #
From the License Server Computer > Search for and Open Resource Monitor > Network tab > Listening Ports section > locate ansyslmd.exe and view the port column (see picture)

Step #2 — Test
From the client computer > Open PowerShell and run the following command:

Test-NetConnection -ComputerName YourLicenseServerNameOrIP -Port YourPort#


  

This can take ~30secs to fail
FlexLM & Vendor Daemon
(Ansys Client Software is Required)

From the client computer with Ansys installed > Open a command prompt‍ and run the following command using your license servername:

"C:Program FilesANSYS IncShared FilesLicensingwinx64lmutil.exe" lmstat -a -c 1055@YourLicenseServerName


Two results are possible:

Step #2 — Troubleshoot Based on Test Results

  1. Did the Test Succeed?

    1. If tests above succeeded, but you still experience problems checking out a license, please follow —  HOW TO — Troubleshoot License Checkout Errors‍ 
  2. Did the Test Fail?

    1. If the tests above fail, this could be caused by one or more of the following issues.  Walk through each of the steps below in sequential order to rule them out. 

A)  The license server  is specified incorrectly

  1. Verify the license server specified‍ is spelled correctly.
  2. Verify the specified license server matches the server listed in the installed license file.
    1. You can skip this step if the license server you’ve specified does not include a domain name at the end (Ex. LicenseServerName.companydomain.com). This is normally seen on if you are connecting via VPN or on license servers specially configured to be public facing‍. 
    2. If these server names do not match, you have 3 options:
      1. Change your specified license server to match the server listed in your license file.  If you do this and the connection test still fails, follow the next option.
      2. In addition to changing your specified license server to match the server listed in your license file, you must edit the host file on the client computer. 
        1. HOW TO — Edit Your Windows Host File
        2. This is considered a work around and will need to be performed on all other similar computers. For a more permeant solution see the next option.
      3. Modify the server name listed in your installed license file to your desired full domain name.
        1. Stop the License Manager‍ 
        2. Modify the server name found in your installed license file as pictured above > start your license manager.
        3. All Ansys users will need to update their specified license server to this new server name. 
        4. In the future, when you attempt to install a license, you will need to manually edit the provided .txt file before installing it and change the server name to YourServerName.company.com before it will successfully install.

B)  The License Manager out of date or not running

Update the License Manager

  1. Identify what version the license server is running
  2. Check this list to see if it’s the latest version — INFO — Ansys Versions & Release Dates‍ 
  3. Download and install‍ the most recent version of the License Manager if needed.

Verify The License Manager Server is Running

  1. Can other users/computers connect and checkout licenses?  If so, the License Manager Service is running, and you can skip this step.
  2. These next steps need to be performed on the license server computer
    1. If you do not have access to the license server computer, you will need to have your IT Administrator perform this step.
  3. Windows Search > search for Ansys License Management Center Right click it and select Run as Administrator
  4. Once open select View Status/Start/Stop License Manager > verify you see a green check mark.
  5. If not, start the server and repeat the License Manager Connectivity Test.
  6. If you cannot start the server, follow ERROR — Ansys License Server Won’t Start‍.

Delete

C)  DNS is Not Resolving Properly

DNS is the system looks up the license server host name and converts it to an IP address. If this doesn’t work, the client can’t talk to the license server.  Perform the following test to see if DNS is a problem.  

  1. Specify the license server via IP address instead of computer name / hostname and re-run the License Manager Connectivity Test.
    1. Success?— You have a DNS resolution problem and will need to contact your IT administrator.  

      1. Alternatively, you can manually edit your Windows host file‍ as a work around.
    2. Failure?  —  Continue troubleshooting.
  2. Go back and change license specified to the hostname.  Do not leave your license server specified via IP address as not all Ansys features will work properly.

Delete

D)  Ports on the License Server, VPN or Network Firewall are blocked

  1. Add necessary Software Firewall Rules on the License Server Computer

    1. Can other users/computers on the same network as you and running the same version as you connect and checkout licenses? If so, the ports are likely open, and you can skip this step.
    2. Note — VPN
      connections are on a different network than local connections.  Different offices/building are on different networks as well.
  2. Add necessary Firewall Rules to any network firewalls/VPN’s/routers. 

    1. This is not common in smaller network environments, but more common in highly secure, enterprise networks, and you will need to contact your network team. 
  3. Repeat the License Manager Connectivity Test.

E)  Client Computer is not connected to license server network

  1. Verify the client computer Wi-Fi or physical network cable is connected to your office network.
  2. If working remotely, ensure the client computer VPN is connected.
  3. Run the following commands to test network connectivity
    1. Test Success Failure Examples
      Ping Server Hostname
      Open a Command Prompt‍ on the client computer and run the following command:

      ping YourServerName


      Ping Server IP Address
      Open a Command Prompt‍  on the client computer and run the following command:

      ping YourServerIPAddress


  4. If ping responses are disabled on the license server, attempting to connect via Windows File share can sometimes be an alternative way to test.
  5. If these tests fail the server is either offline or not configured to respond to ping requests/file sharing and you’ll need to contact your IT Administrator.

F)  The License Server Computer is Offline

  1. Can other users/computers connect and checkout licenses?  If so, the server is online, and you can skip this step.
  2. Perform the tests above in the section Client Computer is not connected to license server network.  These tests will also help determine if the license server is online or not.
  3. If these test fails, the only other way to confirm if the license server is online is to remote desktop into it or physically go to the computer and verify it’s online and connected.

В подпрограмме произошла ОШИБКА #001100247 .
