Решив начинать потихоньку приобщаться к волшебному миру диагностики / кодирования возрастных авто из Баварии, прикупил на пробу BMW Scanner версии 1.4., известный также по кличке «Бобер» (кстати не нашел информации, почему устройство так кличут, буду благодарен за пояснения🤔).
Брал, разумеется, на Али, вот на всякий случай ссылка (хм, а цена-то подросла за месяц прилично так😒).

Доставка в Московскую область заняла около трех недель. Посылку продавец спаковал вроде и грамотно, в пупырку, адаптер и шнурок соединительный по отдельным пакетам, но диск с программой и драйверами пришел-таки треснутый:

Как оказалось, много у кого встречается такая оказия. Но я горевать долго не стал, ибо из изучения вопроса уяснил, что содержимое диска мне и так скорее всего не пригодится. Дело в том, что в комплекте с адаптером китайцы имеют обыкновение присылать древние версии софта, рассчитанные на работу под ОС Windows XP. Пользоваться которой в 2к20 немного странно, если только железо, на которое программа для диагностики устанавливается, не ровесник самим нашим Бумерам😂
У меня в хозяйстве обнаружился тоже далеко не новый, но работающий все же под Win7 нетбук ASUS VX6, не включавшийся до того лет пять — повезло, что батарейка не померла. И хорошо что не продал его за ненадобностью в свое время, сам-то аппарат тоже небанальный и на автомобильную тематику: стилизован под Lamborghini, и при запуске рычит прикольно — типа Ламба заводится😜 Для моих нужд подойдет, в общем.

Установить и запустить Бобра под Win7 / 10 иной раз бывает непросто, но мир же не без добрых людей. Я взял программу и драйвера по ссылке из этого поста (спасибо большое emelint за проделанную работу), также в установке помогла информация из этого видео. После установки драйверов программа выдала сообщение: «hardware faulty», это нормально и лечится первым подключением адаптера к автомобилю (как я понял, адаптер получает питание от гнезда OBD).
Перед проверкой на Иксе разобрал адаптер дабы удостовериться, что пины №7 и 8 спаяны между собой (читал, что без этого программа видит только двигатель и коробку):

При «полевых испытаниях» все подключилось-завелось-заработало без проблем, что не может не радовать.

В деталях пока не разбирался, что к чему да почему. Но первое, что сделал — погасил надоевшие «рыжики», они же american look (а сейчас вот думаю — может с ними лучше было?🤔 ну да ладно, в случае чего вернуть всегда смогу, теперь это дело двух минут). Ну и перевел наконец счетчик пробега с миль в километры (а заодно и весь свой БЖ).

Hello all BMW SCANNER 1.4.0 users,
Do you encouter the problem: after you install the software &USB driver, connect the cable to computer trying to test the cable, it shows you “hardware not found” or «hardware faulty»?
i searched all the topics without this problem
Here is the tips:
tip1: After install the software and driver successfully, you have to connect to vehicles wi th K-line protocol and launch the software．
tip2: the computer is lack of the register file.
hopefully it helps users.
