Доброго времени суток всем.
Я пытался настроить доступ к компьютеру с телефона через wi-fi, но что-то пошло не так. Телефон страшно затупил и несколько раз перезагрузился, а на компе перестал открываться system-config-samba. Я хотел через Muon переустановить пакеты samba и system-config-samba, но он сказал, что есть какие-то ошибки. В подробности он вдаваться не стал. Тогда я попробовал это сделать через терминал и вот результат:
Развернуть/свернуть скрытый текст.

Эти пакеты удаляются без жалоб и вроде как устанавливаются, apt-get update говорит, что все пакеты имеют последнюю версию, но не настраиваиются, а я пока со всякими конфигурационными файлами не очень разобрался. Подскажите, пожалуйста.

и пытался все это исправить осноываясь на советах из интернета, полностью удалял весь пакет <samba> используя команды:
sudo apt-get update --fix-missing не помогло. Затем второй подход
sudo apt-get install -f
sudo dpkg --configure -a Опять мимо, ну и затем
sudo apt-get clean
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get remove sudo dpkg --remove --force-remove-reinstreq samba
sudo apt-get clean
sudo apt-get update
и заново устаналиаю пакет <samba> а потом все рано при обновлении пакетов выходит что ,<samba> и <samba-common-bin> с ошибкой как видно в выводе терминала.Чувствую что где то накосячил а вот где и как исправить не вникну. Вот ниже предсталяю данные системы на которой это все и разворачивается :

Всем доброго дня! Неожиданно перестала работать Samba. Решил переустановить. Дошло до того, что при любом действии по установке или удалению Samba возвращается ошибка

Как это поправить? Гугл не помог… (

sudo apt-get autoremove samba samba-common
sudo apt-get autoremove system-config-samba

Cannot unmask samba.service

Hello. I am trying to configure samba for a stripped down file server. I am running debian with command line only. My problem is that I cannot unmask samba.
See below:
root@debian:/home/aaron# service samba status
● samba.service
Loaded: masked (/dev/null)
Active: inactive (dead)
I have tried «sudo systemctl unmask samba.service». I recieve no errors however it does not actually unmask.
I can’t find anything online regarding a service stuck on masked status.
Please help!

I am sure it didnt unmask becuase if I try to start, stop or restart I get this:
root@debian:/home/aaron# service samba restart
Failed to restart samba.service: Unit samba.service is masked.

Oh, ok, well at least we know, this now, that you have tried running the start command as well. ,.. Odd it is not «unmasking»,..
Not knowing anything about «samba» , and also I am not much of a expert with systemd, sorry, I couldn’t be of more help, .. I do think is one more detail though, that will help, knowing you have tried using the start and restart command, and it confirms it did not «unmask». There are several members here that know a lot more on systemd, etc. Hope fully someone else knows more.

I’ll not be of any help here (sorry), but I’ve run into this too: as a test, I masked some service that I didn’t care about, and then when trying to unmask/restart it no command that I know of could do it.
Luckily it was something I didn’t need, I only masked it to test how this worked, but the outcome wasn’t good anyways: that service is still masked.

I think what has happened here is that at some point you have used:
I have never used samba but it looks like the .service is called smbd.service so you have created a masking symlink in the unit file folder to a non-existent .service.
I think you can just delete the symlink at /lib/systemd/system/samba.service but perhaps you should wait for somebody who actually does use samba.
EDIT: and I don’t have a Debian system until the weekend so I can’t check anything

For people going through this topic and looking for further information. It might be worth taking a look at: http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=126076.
I have included a few different links about bug reports and other content.
To sum up, the samba.service unit is supposed to be masked and the smbd.service and nmbd.service units are the ones that should be restarted to reload daemon configuration by restarting the server.

None of this had helped me and like others I think this is very frustrating.
After a day I solved this. I hope it works for your to.
The command sudo systemctl start samba-ad-dc.service
gave me the error of Failed to enable unit: Unit file /etc/systemd/system/samba-ad-dc.service is masked.
I solved it by sudo systemctl unmask samba-ad-dc.service
Not unmask samba but the entire command — this allowed me to continue with the install.
I hope it helps someone

Он говорит, что надо посмотреть, что скажут команды systemctl status smbd.service и journalctl -xn, там будет больше информации.

Ну и чего вы ожидали? Снесли конфигурационные файлы samba — ничего удивительного, что она не запускается.
Конфигурационный файл создаётся пакетом samba-common — не вижу у вас попытки его установки в приведённом вами выводе. Значит, он уже стоит. Есть два варианта:
1. Снести пакет samba-common подчистую: # apt-get purge samba-common, после чего установить samba заново.
2. Скопировать в /etc/samba/ smb.conf из /usr/share/samba/.
(Вероятно, для выполнения 1. понадобится сначала выполнить 2., после чего — # dpkg -a —configure.)

Всем привет. Пытаюсь настроить сервер на основе Debian, и столкнулся с проблемой при настройке <Samba> выходит ошибка, < E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)> вижу что неудолетворенные зависимости

и пытался все это исправить осноываясь на советах из интернета, полностью удалял весь пакет <samba> используя команды:
sudo apt-get update --fix-missing не помогло. Затем второй подход
sudo apt-get install -f
sudo dpkg --configure -a Опять мимо, ну и затем
sudo apt-get clean
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get remove sudo dpkg --remove --force-remove-reinstreq samba
sudo apt-get clean
sudo apt-get update
и заново устаналиаю пакет <samba> а потом все рано при обновлении пакетов выходит что ,<samba> и <samba-common-bin> с ошибкой как видно в выводе терминала.Чувствую что где то накосячил а вот где и как исправить не вникну. Вот ниже предсталяю данные системы на которой это все и разворачивается :

I am new to Linux but need to be able to connect my work laptop (windows 10 pro) to my desktop
I am trying to get Samba to run but it will not even install from either the Software Manager or Terminal.
The follow error codes are being generated
«Error loading services.

You do not have all the prerequisites installed you are missing samba-common-bin
samba is in the repositories

This hasn’t worked
Samba-common-bin still fails
The error reported is

I have a RPi4 — 4GB
I can’t get samba working on it which is normally very easy.
Here are some details
- It’s Buster lite
- It’s a fresh, updated install
- All I have installed in OpenJDK 8
- I’ve gone through the install — always followed this guy’s blog
- install is simply sudo apt-get install samba samba-common-bin
- All the above is done logged in as root.
I get the following in while installing
After that, I’m stuck

OpenJDK8 is not in the Buster repositories, it is OpenJDK11

true, it does have that in but you can install java8.
Still struggling to get samba working.

Are they actually running ?
Try restarting ‘smbd’ & ‘nmbd’
As for the ‘blog’ you followed, you might just as well not create a Samba user and use this share:
It will work just like the one in the blog, but with less lines.
You should also check that ‘map to guest = bad user’ is set in [global]
If ‘smbd’ & ‘nmbd’ are running, you should be able to connect to the share, but you will probably have to navigate to it, seeing as SMBv1 is now turned off.

well, yes and no.
So, it turns out it was working the whole time. I did not bother checking through windows if it is actually sharing them. When I did I face-palmed.
On my RPi3B+ I see the following
As you can see there is a service called samba and smdb. On the RPi4 there is only smbd.
I’m sure I am not the only one who is using the previously mentioned tutorial so hopefully this thread will help others.

I was able to workaround the installation failure by using systemd-tmpfiles to create the missing directory:

Looks like your dpkg database has been completely deleted.
If so, that’s mighty bad. It means that the system can no longer install or remove packages.Do you want to solve the problem and learn a bit?
Or do you simply want the fastest answer to a working system?

Have you been doing anything in /var/lib/dpkg/info/ that might have removed the thousands of files that normally sit in that folder?

i found in my /var/lib/dpkg/info 1,232 items but he missing packages from the output is 1852.
and if i have been messing around with the system files i will tel you yes i did it :
i wanted to remove Java because i had installed Java in my system and for some reason i have moved to root nautilus and removed all the files with the name java amnd accidentally removed another file and i didn’t realize what i had done except after deleting the file, and you know that root nautilus removes the files without undo.
and this all happend after mounting and updating and fix missing packages from a live cd because my Ubuntu was in login loop and i fixed it by booting into a live cd and mounting my files then download the missing packages and update and upgrade
i there anyway to check if Ubuntu system files or configuration files is missing and try to restore them?

No, because those files come from packages. dpkg maintains the list of those system files in a database…that is now incomplete.
More importantly, ‘missing system files’ does not seem to be the underlying problem. The partially-deleted dpkg database seems to be the essential problem.
One solution is to back up your data and reinstall.
Another solution is to determine the list of packages with missing dpkg database entries, and use apt to reinstall those packages.

i had tried to remove Java and install it again and that’s what happend :
1- removed it with

and 2- tried to install with it synaptic with the package (default-jre) and i got this error message :
