FSSound.dll»

[OldModules]
FSSound.dll=1

ApDataMicrosoftFS9FS9.cfg
[OldModules]

C:Documents and Settings! Application DataMicrosoftFS9
[OldModules]
FSSound.dll=1
[sTARTUP]
DEMO=0
LOADSIM=1
LOADWINDOW=1
SHOW_OPENING_SCREEN=1
STARTUP_DEMO=
[OldModules]
FSSound.dll=1
Поместите fssound.dll

Hi Cris,
I have that file downloaded and installed, and have encountered no
problems with it. With my installation, I kept three aircraft: the
emb-135rl, emb-145er, and emb-145xr, with the two emb-145 aircraft
having their sound and panels aliased to the emb-135.
When installing, I extracted all files to a temp folder. Then I placed
the gauges into the emb-135 panel folder, rather than into the
fs9/gauges folder. My emb-135lr panel folder only has two gauge files:
erj.gau and fpda_gear_wind.gau. There should be NO sub folders in the
panel folder.
The following is from the included installation document:
ERJ 135/145 — Full Package — USA Fleet freeware upload (09/20/04)
Reported Problem / Complaint:
— FS2004 program crash when program attempts to load the ERJ gauges
— Unable to see ERJ panel gauges
— FS2004 incompatible with ERJ gauges
Cause:
The Grabowski panel is a FS2000/2002 panel application updated for
FS2004. In order for the Grabowski panel and gauge package to operate
in FS2004, the module «fssound.dll» must be installed in the
FS2004/Modules folder. The «fssound.dll» module must also be
configured in the fs9.cfg file.
This problem is common with almost all 3rd-party pre-FS2002 panel
applications in which sounds were incorporated into GAU files and is
not a panel/gauge defect. The FS2004 program crashes because it is
unable to load the sounds associated with the ERJ gauges and because
the «fssound.dll» is not present.
Solution: (Step-by-Step)
Step 1: Verify ERJ Panel gauges exist in the proper file location
Open the «FS2004/Gauges» folder and verify that the following GAU
files exist inside the folder:
— erj.gau 7,684KB
— fpda_gear_wind.gau 9KB
If the above gauge files do exist in the «FS2004/Gauges» folder,
skip down to Step 3.
If the above gauge files do not exist in the «FS2004/Gauges»
folder, proceed to Step 2.
Step 2: Reinstall the ERJ gauges in the proper file location
Unzip the «ERJ 135/145 — Full Package — USA Fleet» download
again. Find the «erj.gau» and «fpda_gear_wind.gau» files and
reinstall them into your «FS2004/Gauges» folder. Refer to the
Installation Readme for additional help.
Step 3: Installation of the fssound.dll
Unzip the attached file «FSSoundEndUser». Install the
«fssound.dll» into your «FS2004/Modules» folder.
Step 4: Find & Modify the FS9.cfg file
* It is strongly recommended you make a copy of the «fs9.cfg» file
before you make any modifications*
Open your FS2004 (or Flight Simulator 9) folder. Look for a CFG file
called «fs9.cfg». It may be easier to find this file if you
right-click the mouse and «arrange icons by Type». If you find the
«fs9.cfg» file in your FS2004 folder, open it with MS Wordpad and
search for the following command line:
[OldModules]
Add the following command line after [OldModules] so that it now
appears like this:
[OldModules]
fssound.dll=1
If the [OldModules] parameter doesn’t exist in your «fs9.cfg»
file, add it.
Save and Exit. Procedure is complete. The ERJ panel should now
operate properly.
Hope this helps.

I just started adding my Project Airbus A320’s into FS2004 and when starting FS2004 I get a FSSound.dll error. I then deleted the Fssound.dll and everything works fine, but I was wondering what does the Fssound.dll do?

There is no need to delete fssound.dll from your flightsim. You need to locate your fs9.cfg file which if you are using XP will be located in C:Documents And SettingsYOURUSERNAMEApplication DataMicrosoftFS9and add the following text OldModulesfssound.dll=1Now for some reason this won’t allow me to show you properly but you need to add the squared brackets to the front and back of the OldModules text. The squared brackets are the ones located immediately to the right of your P key and are the lower of the two sets? Can someone tell me why this forum window will not allow me to show them? Then you won’t get the error message.As far as what does the dll do goes, I think it allows certain gauges to have sound but I may be wrong.markyboy.

The square brackets on just about all web based forums are not acceptable. I suspect that being we are having our reply text be converted to the html code used in we sites, the brackets «can not be escaped» to allow representation as a text character. Brackets have a special function with javascript and/or html code.Usually braces «{}» are used for posting with instructions to substitute brackets.

Good! brackets work in both IE and Netscape.Some of the squares that show in IE display in Netscape as other characters including taller angle brackets and what looks like square brackets with the upper OR lower end missing.Odd that IE displays the other three card suite symbols but not diamonds.Brackets get converted to HTML tags:[OldModules]gets converted to:<OldModules>which the browser tries to read as a HTML tag, but it’s invalid, so it’s ignored.But [ is displayed as [ and ] is displayed as ] The «;» is a delimeter to indicate the number is ended.

At some point FS9.1 began complaining tha tFSSound.dll might not be compatible and offered the choice of loading or not. Loading it causes no problem. I’ve seen this discussed on other forums, where the consesnsus is that it isn’t a real problem, but no one knows what the cause is.
I was wondering if anyone here knows the cause and if there is a solution. It is a nuisance if I start FS and am distracted. Five minutes later its still sitting at that damned dialogue box witing for me to click OK.
I suppose some dufus addon added/modified/replaced/stomped on the file, but don’t know which one is the culprit.

When you load an aircraft you might be installing (overwriting) an older version of it than you need for other aircraft.
This happens often with self installing aircraft (exe.).
That’s my take on that nuisance message.

Crash, have you tried this
Find fs9.cfg & open it in Notepad. Add this entry (it doesn’t really matter where providing it’s a new entry) & exit Notepad saving changes.
[OLDMODULES]
fssound.dll=1
I think the cause comes down to the arthur using a 2002 that has been upgraded for us with FS9 but uses 2002 gauges and sounds. Others will correct me if im wrong (must fo the time)

AJWatson try this
1} Double click My Computer
2} Double click Hard Drive
3} Double Click Documents & Settings
4} Double Click Your User Name
5} At this stage you will need to acces the hidden folders. Go to Tools at the top of the task bar, then Folder options, click on view, in the advance section you should see a tick box called show hidden files & folders tick this and click apply & OK. All hidden folders will come to light.
6} Double click on Application Data
7} Double click Microsoft
8} Double click FS9
9} The FS9 CFG file should be the third one down on the left (well it is on mine)
Open it up with wordpad on copy and paste the added section in my previous versoin.
Let us know how you got on.

Here is my fix. I went into …program files…FS9modules and renamed it to fssound.dll.bak. FS started up with no complaint.
If I find a plane that has no sound now, I will know the culprit. If it can’t be aliased to an FS9 sound file, I’ll get rid of it.
This is the info I have on the dll.

Final fix. Went to and downloaded version 1.6.0.15 beta2 and got no complaint from FS. FS does not like 1.5.0.2 or prior. I don’t like beta software, but apparently some gauge designers are using it and FS doesn’t complain, so I’ll give it a try unless green slime starts coming out of my speakers.
As the last update was over a year ago, I won’t hold my breath till 1.6.x final comes out.

Top man it got rid of .dll box at start up but have lost a few sounds for a/c. Only tried a couple but I’m sure I had sounds for them before.

Just installed a panel with cabin announcements. I placed the FSSound.dll module in the FS9 Modules folder and entered the following in the FS9 config file as instructed:
[OLD MODULES]
FSSound.dll=1
Now when I open FS9 I get the following error msg:
FS DETECTED POTENTIALLY INCOMPATIBLE AIRCRAFT OR SOFTWARE.
FILE=FSSound.dll
LOAD: Yes or No
I check YES and FS9 opens correctly and the cabin announcements work just fine.
My question is: How do I eliminate the above error Msg so it doesn’t pop up everytime I load FS9.
Thanks for any help,
Paul
P.S. This rebuilding process of my sim is straining my memory

Does that popup come on if you select a different aircraft? It might be a kind of choice thing, if you prefere not to have the announcements you can select No or visa-versa. just a guess.

and the error warnings will stop. Except for the voice saying «They’re modules Jim, but not as we know them.»
