I found the same issue, I only have the Guitar Rig 6 «player» version, which is likely fine for my needs but I may opt for the pro version depending on whether I like it or not, I’m going to compare it with amplitube see which I like best. Either way with both options it must work as a vst in Cakewalk, I don’t care much for standalone stuff that works outside of my favourite DAW.
In the native access app it said that guitar rig’s vst’s were in «C:Program FilesCommon FilesVST3 » which is in cakewalk’s list of places to scan and where I did actually find a «Guitar Rig 6.dll» but despite rescanning the vst’s and reading a log file a couple of times nothing. I copied the «Guitar Rig 6.dll» to cakewalk’s own «vstplugins» folder just as a last ditch attempt and without a manual rescan cakewalk picked it up straight away. Strange but true, hope that helps someone.

I’ve started using Guitar Rig 6 and have been experiencing frequent crashes which happens when adding new modules into the rack. Frequent means something like 1 out of 10 times. The crash is without any error message, the whole Reaper just dies. Does anyone else have similar (or diferent) experience? |

I have the same with guitar rig and other ik multimedia apps there’s any way to debug this? the main issue is that reaper crashes but remain in execution in the background, blocking the audio card (a reboot is the only way to kill it) Here I have win 11 thanks |

This might be a different problem than mine. I have some other NI and IK plugins and they all run well. Only GRig crashes and only sometimes when I interact with the left pane where components have their icons. |

Same issue in Reaper with GR6. I don’t run any other IK Multimedia plugins, so I can’t tell if it’s related to those specifically. I have tried in a few other DAWs for testing and as far as I can tell the issue doesn’t happen in Ableton Live Lite or FL Studio. I was able to find a way to stop the freezing and crashing when using GR6, which was from a user in another thread, which is to run the plugin as a dedicated process, by right clicking the VST on the list, when adding it and select the «Run As…» tree and then select «Dedicated Process». I can now use GR6 and change presets without any laggyness and no crashes since trying this. I assume it’s just due to the way Reaper runs plugins and the way GR utilizes resources. They don’t play well together by default. |

Right-click on it in the FX browser and run it as a separate/dedicated process. That way at least when it crashes it won’t take Reaper down. Then you can right-click on the plugin in mixer, set it to offline then online. This should reload it without needing to re-open the project. Dedicated process could be a better choice otherwise any other plugins sharing the separate process will also crash.

hello again audio sexuals, this i need help with guitar rig 6. I’ve tested the legit and sister site version, and i can’t load a preset without crashing the software (when i load a preset it automatically closes the software). Also i’ve tested older versions and the first version seems to work perfect (6.00, 6.02) but since 6.1 it crashes. Can you give me a hand?

Well, apparently the system requirements are fine, I suggest you uninstall every version of the Guitar rig that you have, clean leftover files, clean your windows registry, download the latest version from the sister website, and do a clean installation of the program. , restart your computer after each action, and see if you have automatic updates available from windows, in case something is failing in the system, so far my humble advice, then you can tell us to see how everything goes.

I’m looking at the presets at the moment and everything works fine, I forgot that you can reset the factory presets, to see if it helps, look at the three points on the top left, click there, a window opens, select File — Preferences. Another window opens, and click on the (Library) icon
And finally click on Reset Library button, it is very important that you close the program and reopen it! This restores the database of presets.-
