Missing «helper.php» file

Hello! HELP!!! I’m new to Joomla! and have recently taken over a site with it. It was working great yesterday. Today, the host company said the «helper.php» in the «includes» folder was missing.

How could that happen?

How do I get it back???

It could have been accidentally deleted. Do they mean the file helper.php located in the directory administratorincludes?

The remedy would be to get the file from the Stable Full Package of the version of Joomla! you are using and copying it to the appropriate directory.

Thanks. We have the main domain directed to a sub domain. The helper.php file that is missing is in a file called «includes».

There is a helper.php file in quite a few folders. Is it the same file? It isn’t the one in the administrator folder.

If you are talking about the directory includes, then there are only two directories includes and administratorincludes. There is no file named helper.php in the directory includes. The file helper.php is available in the directory administratorincludes.

That is the main reason I responded earlier the way I did.

Not a problem. I don’t even know enough about Joomla! to be dangerous yet….

The hosting company looked at the error and said the script was looking for that file there. Any ideas?

This is the error I am getting in my browser from the subdomain:

I just checked eegan.org I like it! I’m up to my eyeballs helping children with special ed needs in my area.

Make sure that the path to log and temp folders are correct.

OK…how do I check the path to log and temp folders?

When I go to bring up the administrator is gives a «Index of /administrator» list instead of a log in.

Joomla! 1.5.14

With Joomla! if I go and update to 1.5.3 will that help here? I’ve never loaded Joomla! on a site before.

It is not clear what you want to do. You are specifying that you are having Joomla! 1.5.14 and the version 1.5.3 is several versions back. The latest version is Joomla! 1.5.15.

If you want to upgrade Joomla! to the latest version, review the document http://docs.joomla.org/Upgrading_1.5_fr … 5x_version.

In tracking the problem down it appears to be the template that is messed up and keeping the site from loading. I set up a dummy site and the template gave errors right off the bat.

However, I do thank each of you. I did downgrade to the 1.5.15 per the advise here and I thank you guys for giving your time to help us newbies! Perhaps, one day, I’ll have 4 or 5 starts myself!

I short, the Joomla part is working fine. It’s the template that has the issue.

How can I get the file from a stable package? When i unzip I always get .qpkg file?

I am still looking for the file!!!

Всем привет, на 3 версии с com_ajax никаких проблем не было, на 4 делаю все так же, но консоль пишет
RuntimeException: Файла mod_topsection/helper.php не существует.
понятное дело не существует, в 4-ке их и нет, там src/Helper/ModNameHelper.php
и вот вопрос (гуглил, ответа не нашел) как правильно в 4-ке пользовать com_ajax ?

P.S. добавил в модуль helper.php, в нем создал класс с методом mailsendAjax
из js вызываю так ‘/index.php?option=com_ajax&module=topsection&method=mailsend&format=raw’

теперь в консоли LogicException: Метода mailsendAjax не существует.

Разобрался, класс в хелпере не может иметь любое имя, он должен строго называться ModModulenameHelper
получается, что в 4-ке с com_ajax вообще не работали? А нафига тогда эти пляски с новыми папками src/Helper и прочими неймспейсами?

Не вижу разницы в AJAX.php в Joomla и Joomla 4
Класс в хелпере должен быть  как вы и написали- ModModulenameHelper;

Что-то я тоже не понял, в чём проблема? Не могла тройка без класса ModModulenameHelper работать.

Все верно, это я туплю)) Не знаю почему, решил что имя класса теперь писать можно какое угодно, откуда я это взял — не знаю

    Установил демо шаблон, начал тестировать, включил все модули, зашел на сайт, и вижу…..

    это jomsocial . Компонент платный, но варезные версии в инете присутствуют.

    первую причину устранил осталась эта….вот не могу найти именно такой компонент….((

Steps to reproduce the issue

A fresh installation of Joomla 3.6.4 (i.e. latest version). Installed with sample data.

Error condition: A ‘Out of sort memory’ error is reported by MYSQL — Out of sort memory,
‘consider increasing server sort buffer size’ is reported in the heading to all activities in the Administrator interface.

Applicable sql is:

SQL=SELECT a.*, SUM(b.home) AS home,b.language,l.image,l.sef,l.title_native
FROM #__menu_types AS a
LEFT JOIN #__menu AS b ON b.menutype = a.menutype AND b.home != 0
LEFT JOIN #__languages AS l ON l.lang_code = language
WHERE (b.client_id = 0 OR b.client_id IS NULL)
GROUP BY a.id, a.menutype, a.description, a.title, b.menutype,b.language,l.image,l.sef,l.title_native

Simply paste this into the sql panel of phpMyAdmin, in the context of the tables of the freshly installed JM version, and the error will be reported.

Expected result

In line 47, the ‘try’ should result in line 49 being executed.

Actual result

This error is thrown in administrator/modules/mod_menu/helper.php line 54

System information (as much as possible)

Context:
Joomla 3.6.4 Full version
Apache: Server Version: Apache/2.4.6
OS: Win32 Windows 7 Professional
PHP: 5.4.19
MySQL: 5.0.10

(Note: Uniform server version 8.9.2 Coral was used as the WAMP).

Additional comments

I tried increasing the MYSQL allocated sort memory — from a default value of 139K to 32M — to no effect.
The query structure appears to be problematic.
