When i start my laptop I get 2 error messages. The newest one is logioverlay,exe. the application was unable to start correctly. And, my mouse isn’t working correctly with this new error. It lags using the wheel to scroll.

Lately, I ran into the LogiOverlay.exe Bad Image error after I had run Windows Update. The file igd9dxva64.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error, which results in error status 0xc000007b.
Although my Windows 10 pc still ran fine, I wasn’t sure the performance of my Intel UHD 630 was still at 100%. In this article, I’ll cover the cause of this error and how to fix it
First of all, it is good to know that LogiOverlay has nothing to do with Logitech’s LogiLDA.dll. LogiOverlay.exe is related to the graphics drivers of the Intel video card series.
And that brings us straight to the heart of the problem. After installing Windows Update (Insider Preview probably), the video drivers have been updated. At first, I had version 26.20.100.8141. But after the Windows Update, it was updated to 29.20.100.9027.
Most of the time, the latest drivers from Intel, which are offered via Windows Update, are error-free. This seems to be the exception.
Fix LogiOverlay.exe – Bad Image
To solve the issue with igd9dxva64.dll, you’d best to delete the latest driver. This enables you to revert back to the previous version (which worked perfectly so far). Follow these steps to rollback your video driver:
- Click Start -> type Device Manager -> Open Device Manager
- Expand Display Adapters. Right-click Intel UHD Graphics 630 and choose Properties.
- In the Properties Windows, select the Driver tab. In the Driver tab, make note of the Driver Version. This could be something like 29.20.100.9027
- Expand Display Adapters. Right-click Intel UHD Graphics 630 and choose Uninstall Device.
- In the popup window, select the checkbox “Delete the driver for this device.” and click Uninstall
- Back in the main window Device Manager, click the Scan for Hardware Changes button in the toolbar:
- To verify the driver has been reverted to the older one, right-click Intel UHD Graphics 630 and choose Properties. In the Driver tab, notice the Driver Version is now different from the version you saw in step 3.
Done! Reboot your pc to make sure the error doesn’t appear anymore.
Manually update your Intel Graphics Driver
As you have noticed, Windows Update sometimes installs drivers that are not compatible (yet), or do not work correctly with your hardware components and software. In these cases, it may be wise to manually download and update the driver.

By default, installing Intel Graphics drivers overwrite older drivers. However, if you happen to have a newer driver installed, Intel will not always automatically detect. Therefor, it’s best to first uninstall the older driver and then install the Intel Graphics Driver from the Intel website.

What does the LogiOverlay.exe file do?

How to uninstall Logi Overlay
To remove Logi Overlay from your computer, please follow the manual instructions below or use an automatic uninstaller product.
- Click the Windows Start Button. You find it in the lower left corner of the taskbar.
- Type the word uninstall.
- Click Add or remove programs.
- Now locate Logi Overlay in the list of displayed applications.
- Click the program, and then click Uninstall.
How to tell if LogiOverlay.exe (Logi Overlay) was uninstalled cleanly
After uninstalling, restart your computer. Then start Windows Explorer and see if there is still a folder with the name of the software under C:Program Files. Be sure to check the Registry as well for remnants of Logi Overlay. To do this, start «Regedit», then look under «HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE» > «Software» for Logi Overlay or the name of the producer. Always keep in mind that only a computer professional should ever directly delete entries in the Windows Registry.
What to do if a program does not uninstall
The easiest way to remove any kind of software cleanly and accurately is to use an uninstaller tool. Because the uninstaller automatically creates a backup, there is no risk of anything going wrong.

Couple of days ago I assembled my new PC. Here are the specs:
Asus Crosshair VII Hero WIFI (bios 2501)
AMD Ryzen 3900X
Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO 32GB 3000MHz CL15
Samsung SSD NVMe 970PRO 512GB
Windows 10 1903
and some other components.
I haven’t installed/tested everything yet, but so far everything is working great — except for one app: Logitech Options. I tried all versions available on Logitech website, but with the same result. What’s the problem? When Windows starts or if I run the app manually, Logitech Options runs 3 processes: Logi Overlay, LogiOptions.exe and LogiOptionsMgr.exe. At this point everything works as it should, but once I start running applications — let it be Edge or whatever — LogiOptionsMgr.exe disappears from the processes list (there’s no information that it crashed or anything). Mouse and keyboard are still working, but once LogiOptionsMgr.exe closes, I lose possibility to use customized buttons (I have Mx Master S2 mouse + Craft keyboard and I do a lot of video editing, so this feature is very important to me!). In event viewer there’s an error:

I have no idea what’s causing LogiOptionsMgr.exe to closecrash, but I’ve already tested some things:
1. It happens with every version of Logitech Options.
2. I thought that maybe some driver/app was causing it to act like that, so I installed a fresh copy of Windows 10 1903 and then, before installing any driver/app, I ran the newest version of Logitech Options — LogiOptionsMgr.exe crashed/disappeard from the processes list right after I ran some other application.
3. I suspected that perhaps the newest version (1903) of Windows 10 is causing these problems, so I did a fresh install of 1803 version which worked with no issues on my old PC (Asus P8Z77-V, Intel 3770K, Corsair Vengeance 16GB). That didn’t help either. LogiOptionsMgr.exe was crashing again.
4. Since I switched from Intel to AMD and this issue started happening, I think the problem lies in the platform (AMD/Asus). In my workplace I use the PC with Ryzen 2700X cpu and the newest version of Windows 10 on which the Logitech Options software is working flawlessly. That means it must be the new platform that’s causing problems (maybe the bios, maybe some driver; perhaps Win10 doesn’t work with it properly yet — I don’t know).
Since I’m not sure where I should address this issue, I’m reporting it to AMD, Asus, Microsoft and Logitech.
In the meantime, does anyone have any ideas on how to fix it?
