Looks like no one’s replied in a while. To start the conversation again, simply
ask a new question.
In the process of cleaning the mac to use it as a new device it got stuck at downloading the latest OS (after successfully erasing the disk in utilities). Internet posts indicated that sometimes the time gets erased too and needs to be set via terminal again. However i never came to that as it would start showing an allert sign with «apple.com/support» and underneath -1005F. Also in between at one restart it showed the folder logo with a question mark in it instead of the apple logo. When command+R ing it went i to internet recovery mode and let me choose a wifi. However when chooing a wifi it just stays like that, the globe logo is spinning but nothing else is happening. Also occasionally the wifi bars drop to zero even though on my phone and other laptop right next to it its full bars.
What do i do?
Its a brand new macbook pro (the touchbar one) and after the mail app wouldnt work after putting on the backup from the old macbook we decided to clean it again and set up as new machine and migrate documents and stuff by hand. Oh look, neverending story, back to the top~

Thanks for the post in Apple Support Communities. I understand you’re running into an issue with your MacBook Air, and I’m glad to see how I can help.
First, to clarify, what’s happening when you say your MacBook Air isn’t loading? What happens when you try starting up? Knowing this would help determine if there are other steps you can try before booting into macOS Recovery, and might also shed some light on the error message.
Also, have you tried starting up using either Command + Option + R, or Shift + Option + Command + R? These are different methods of accessing the macOS Recovery system, and it’s worth testing to see if you get similar results with each: How to reinstall macOS from macOS Recovery
If you find the issue persists, you might try running the Apple Diagnostics to test this: How to use Apple Diagnostics on your Mac

Question: Q: Internet recovery is broken
Something weird is happening to internet recovery on a Mac, whenever it trys to load up (even though an Ethernet cable is connected) it will ask to select WiFi, select WiFi login and it comes up with an error it says:
Error -1005F
Looked everywhere for Error -1005F, no such error exists, Mac is completely crippled at this point because there are no installation discs or anything and Internet recovery is toast.

This is what I have discovered, which I’m pretty sure is correct:
- Error -2003F means that Internet Recovery has been interrupted and needs to be restarted.
- Error -1005F means that the Internet connection you are using for Internet Recovery is not suitable. I tested three and the two WPA2 wireless networks worked fine but the WiFI transmitted by my phone did not work.
- Error -3001F means the signal strength is not enough. Internet Recovery obviously uses a different wireless driver from OSX because it needs to be much closer to the access point that normally.

No one know what this error is, I can’t find anything on the error :s
I’ve seen here that some routers interfere with the connection to the Apple restore servers. Can you connect the Mac directly to the modem?
That would actually explain it, recently put in a new Router, will try soon (other people using internet right now) and let you know.
By any chance the issue is with the Cisco EA4500 Router?
I don’t know specific types, but have seen other posts where the fix was to bypass the router. However, it may be that the problem was with the type of WiFi protection used.
From the Article, About OS X Recovery, you must be using WPA or WPA2 on your WiFi for Internet Recovery.

So I figured out the dreaded 1005f code. What I had to do:
step 1: find another mac and download a bootable drive of Maverick.
step 2: Go onto Apps and download Maverick for FREE and place the downloaded Mavericks in your Applications.
step 3: Have an external Hard drive to write the bootable disk on.
step 4: go into applications, then click utilities, and then click disk utility.
step 5: click on your external hard drive ( you are going to use to copy on) hit erase and make sure the format is Mac OS Extended (journaled). Click out after it is done.
step 4:Now you can google how to make a bootable maverick disk and get three different ways but I tried the other ways and it didnt work so. I used disk a 3rd party site to make the bootable disk.
step 5: Download from website above (it is FREE).
step 6: Once downloaded click the program and follow the directions because it basically does everything for you.
step 7: Once it is done making a bootable disk take that lovely disk to your laptop.
step 8: start laptop and press options (alt) key down and once you see the apple let go.
step 9: the bootable disk will be shown on screen (OS X Install Disk) click it and it will bring you into loading Mavericks.
step 10: Do not hit the start button on Mavericks download screen instead look on the top of your screen in the tool bar and go to Utilities pull down bar and click Disk Utility.
step 11: Once in Disk utility (if your hard drive is not fried it should show all available drives) the first drive is your main drive so click on it. Try and hit First Aid tab and see if you can fix it that way. if not go to next step.
step 12: Click partition, this will enable you to by pass your troubled hard drive while being able to make a copy of Mavericks to log onto so you can fix the mess.
step 13: Once in partition you will notice you have another drive which is the drive you DO NOT want to partition over!! So here is what you do notice to the left it says «size» this is telling you how much space is on this drive, make sure you have enough space to move to the second partition.
step 14: Here is a link that has pictures and all that good stuff just skip the first parts until you reach the part where the link has a screen like yours then follow along.
NOTE: remember to NOT override your drive with the partition!!
step 15: Once you made a partition now you can download a fresh copy of Mavericks on it (this is to be able to get on your mac on a function OS).
step 16: Restart computer and hit option on start and download the Mavericks on the new partition you made. This will make you create a whole new username etc. don’t worry your hard drive that has all your stuff is still there in the background.
step 17: You need to get a hold of a disk repair cd (Norton or whatever brand) I used Disk Warrior and it did cost a pretty penny $100 BUT it saved my expensive laptop! So once you get a copy of the CD or download and make a bootable drive run it.
NOTE: Depending on the disk repair I used Disk Warrior so I will give information on the steps I did.
step 18: Place the disk repair drive in your applications then utilities folder. Once there click on it and then click on disk utility.
step 19: Run the disk repair should recognize your drive. Once it recognizes it click on your drive and hit repair. This will the repair. once it is done then restart computer and hold down option (alt) key again and you will notice that you have a couple of drives and Disk Warrior to choose from. Click on your drive and this should fix the problem! Please note this may NOT work for you if your drive is fried. Oh and also dont forget to back up your original drive with time machine so this will not happen again. also, if you want to unpartition your hard drive google «how to unpartition» and directions will pop up!

Mac
4. Выбрать проблемный MacBook и нажать «удалить из Найти айфон«;
1. Нам нужен еще один Mac (к счастью такой нашелся);
2. Соединяем наш Mac (клиент) со вторым Mac (сервер) кабелем питания UCB-C — UCB-C (руководство по ссылкам выше);
3. Скачиваем на Mac (сервер) утилиту Apple Configurator 2 и запускаем ее;
4. Вводим Mac (клиент) в DFU;
Restore.
На роутере я прописал DNS: основной сервер 8.8.8.8, альтернативный 8.8.4.4;
Сделал WI-FI сеть без пароля, но с фильтрацией по MAC — адресам, поскольку наткнулся на информацию о том, что Mac в процессе Internet Recovery может забывать пароль от WI-FI;
Также могут помочь сброс NVRAM или PRAM;
Запускать Mac через Shift-Option-Command-R, можно даже после того, как вы получили ошибку 200+F. Бывают случаи, когда загрузка происходит не с первого раза;

Thanks for reaching out in Apple Support Communities. I understand that while working in the Windows partition you have on your Mac, the Mac shut down and when you restarted you’re seeing the error you mention above. I can see why you’d reach out about this; I’d like to help. The error you’re seeing is typically associated with a network connection issue. First, I’d recommend that you review the information below and attempt to select a network from the Wi-Fi menu bar:
«If you can’t start up from macOS Recovery
Newer Mac computers and some older Mac computers automatically try to start up from macOS Recovery over the Internet when unable to start up from the built-in recovery system. When that happens, you see a spinning globe instead of an Apple logo during startup. To manually start up from macOS Recovery over the Internet, press and hold Option-Command-R or Shift-Option-Command-R at startup. Learn more about these key combinations.
If you still can’t start up from macOS Recovery, you might need to reinstall macOS after starting up from another disk or volume, or by using a bootable installer.
macOS Recovery over the Internet, the Reinstall macOS utility, and the Get Help Online utility all require an Internet connection. If you need to connect to a Wi-Fi network, move your pointer to the top of the screen, then choose a network from the Wi-Fi menu in the menu bar.»
I’d also suggest using Startup Manager to see if you’re able to select a partition on booting:
«Use Startup Manager
When you use Startup Manager to select a startup disk, your Mac starts up from that disk once, then returns to using the disk selected in Startup Disk preferences.
-
- Press and hold the Option key immediately after turning on or restarting your Mac.
- Release the Option key when you see the Startup Manager window.
- If your Mac is protected by a firmware password, you can release the key when you’re asked to enter the password.
- Select your startup disk, then click the arrow under its icon, or press Return.
- If you press and hold the Control key during this step, your selection is saved in Startup Disk preferences, so it persists until you change it.
If your Mac is using OS X Lion 10.7.3 or later, you can also use this method to start up from your Time Machine backup disk. Startup Manager identifies your Time Machine backup as ”EFI Boot.”»
If you continue to have trouble, you may need to reinstall macOS using a bootable installer to reinstall macOS: How to create a bootable installer for macOS

I needed to reinstall macOS, so I deleted my partition and opened the Mac recovery and started downloading Sierra. Unbelievable 6 hours later, the installation was stuck and I turned my MacBook off.
Pressing the power button + Commandcommand R gives me this message:
I tried everything, changing my WiFi authentication type from WEP to WPA/WPA2, all boot shortcuts, resetting SMC/NVRAM.
Pressing power + CommandOption shows me the following:
Clicking the «…» button lets me manually input the WiFi SSID and password, but it hangs forever in the loading indicator.
I don’t have another Mac to make a bootable USB stick and reinstall the OS, only Windows.
