Ошибка 1054 joomla 3

Joomla is a great way to create websites. It comes as free and requires zero expertise in coding too.

But, often due to bad configuration, Joomla reports error in the website. One such error is Joomla error 1054.

Usually, Joomla shows error 1054 when updating from older versions. And, often it makes Joomla backend unavailable.

That’s why, we often get requests from customers to fix Joomla errors as part of our Technical Support Services.

Today, we’ll see the details of error 1054 and how Bobcares’ Engineers fix it.

When, What and Why of Joomla error 1054 ?

Before proceeding further, we’ll see further details of error.

Usually, the 1054 error happens when upgrading Joomla to latest version from older version.

Recently, one of our customers reported this problem when doing an upgrade from 3.7.5 to 3.8. Unfortunately, the immediate effect is that Joomla back-end becomes inaccessible.  And, it reports variation of the error as:

Error 1054 Unknown column 'a.client_id' in 'where clause.'

Surprisingly, the Joomla frontend will work fine. Therefore, it affects customers only while make changes in the Joomla backend. When accessing the Joomla administrator panel, you do not see the usual control panel. Instead, it will show up as completely blank screen.

But, what causes the error?

Here, by this error, Joomla complains about missing columns in Joomla database. Just as site building tools like WordPress, Joomla also stores site configuration in Databases. And, error 1054 means problem with sites Joomla database.

How we fix error 1054 in Joomla?

Ok. The reason for error is screwed up database. Therefore, to make Joomla backend panel working again, we need to fix the database.

Again, fixing database errors need utmost care. We’ll now see how our Dedicated Engineers fix it for the customers.

1. From Joomla Admin panel

When Joomla admin panel is accessible, the error 1054 can be fixed from the panel itself.

For this, we follow the steps as listed below.

We select Extensions → Manage → Database from the drop-down menu of the Joomla! Administrator Panel. It will show errors with the Database. To fix them, our Support Engineers Click on the Fix button.
After a few seconds, it will show the “Database table structure is up to date” message:

That fixes the 1054 Unknown Column ‘client_id’ in ‘field list’ error and admin panel becomes accessible again.

2. From PHPMyAdmin

Unfortunately, in certain cases, Joomla admin panel just shows a blank page. In such cases, PHPMyAdmin helps in fixing database inconsistencies easily.  Luckily, running an SQL query in the database can solve the Joomla error.

That’s why, our Dedicated Engineers connect to the websites’ control panel and then to PHPMyAdmin.

We run the following SQL query commands to alter the database table.

ALTER TABLE `xxx_menu_types` ADD COLUMN `client_id` int(11) NOT NULL DEFAULT 0;

UPDATE `xxx_menu` SET `published` = 1 WHERE `menutype` = 'main' OR `menutype` = 'menu';

Here, we substitute ‘xxx’ with the prefix of website’s database tables:

After running this query, the Joomla panel becomes accessible again.

Conclusion

In short, Joomla error 1054 happens due to inconsistencies with website’s database. Today, we saw the details of the error and how our Dedicated Engineers fix it and make Joomla backend working again.

Здравствуйте !
Была проблема с логами, поэтому долго не обновлялась Joomla. Решил эту проблему и наконец-то запустил установку с версии 3.4 до версии 3.8. Но по окончании обновления в админке наблюдается такая картина: Белый экран, чёрная полоса сверху, в которой прописано: «Error displaying the error page» а в адресной строке «Ошибка 1054 unknown column ‘a.client_id’ in ‘where clause'»
Подскажите пожалуйста как исправить.

Буква а определяет имя таблицы в базе данных, ну а client_id это имя столбца которого нет в этой таблице…
К какому компоненту относится таблица в том и ищи проблему…

Нужно фиксить базу данных.

А какую таблицу хоть искал?

Ну я копался в таблице updates, руководствуясь тем, что админка полетела после загрузки обновлений. Менял значение столбца client_id и тд. Пробовал удалять это обновление 3.8 оттуда. В общем походу занимался не тем.

Решение
А именно: Менеджер расширений-> База данных-> Исправить

Менеджер расширений же в самой админке ? А у меня она абсолютно полетела, нет никаких иконок и тд

Бекап обратно и правильность (пошаговость) обновления: сначало расширения, потом ядро.
Приоритеты в расширениях-сначало библиотеки.

Посмотрите таблицы #__menu_types, #__modules, #__menu, #__template_styles, #__extensions, #__session. Больше не нашел. Если найдете, то тип integer длину поставьте 11.

Теперь пролечите таблицы из админки. Может еще что не срастается.

в какой папке смотрели, подскажите

Расскажите пожалуйста все поэтапно (подробно) как решить эту проблему, не понимаю где эту таблицу найти, в phpMyAdmin все посмотрел нет такой таблицы. Заранее спасибо!

Ну для начала наверное надо включить ошибки на максимум !

Добрый день! Выдает ошибку ошибка 1054 unknown column a.client id in where clause после обновления

Я не знаю как её исправить. Есть пароль только от админки, а на нее зайти нельзя из-за ошибки,  белый экран. Тут говорили про какие-то таблицы, а где их взять? Как исправить?

Где это искать и куда вводить? я вообще не шарю в этих штуках

В корне сайта есть файл configuration.php вот таи и ищите $error_reporting и $debug и меняйте значение то что в кавычках

Error 1054 after upgrading from 3.7.5 to3.8

I’ve just upgraded from 3.7.5 to 3.8 and cannot login to the admin side.

The error code is: Error 1054 Unknown column ‘a.client_id’ in ‘where clause’

How can I get back into my site?

Check the log file (logs/joomla-update.php) for a successful upgrade.

Same Problem here. Got this message after updating: «Error displaying the error page: Unknown column ‘a.client_id’ in ‘where clause’: Unknown column ‘a.client_id’ in ‘where clause'»

I checked the log … it says «Aktualisierung auf Version 3.8.0 ist vollständig.» (update complete).

No error logged.

Can´t access the adminpages, but frontend seems to be doing fine. I am using php 7.x.

Anyone got an Idea ?!

And post back if you can update now

I am having exactly the same problem. After update today I could not even call up my login page. Using the URL suggested by @leolam above, I accessed the login page, but after login just got a blank page with same Error 1054 message displayed in my Firefox tab. My site appears to be working OK, but can’t login to backend, so any suggestions about logging in to it will be unhelpful.

Any suggestions gratefully received. :(

Yesterday I upgraded two sites from Joomla 3.7.5 to 3.8.0. One upgraded without issues and the other broke the backend as described by other users in this and other forum posts.

I stumbled across this thread https://github.com/joomla/joomla-cms/issues/15629 where it points to the #__menu_type table as a culprit. On my site that did not have issues the ‘client_id’ column was present in the #__menu_type table. The site that did have issues did not have a ‘client_id’ column in its corresponding table.

Replace #_ with your database prefix.

The sql commands suggested by infograf768 in the linked thread was able to correct my issue.

Thank you @davidlin. From the posts on the GitHub https://github.com/joomla/joomla-cms/issues/15629, the 2 SQL commands in a post that helped fix my installation are:

Code: Select all

ALTER TABLE `#_menu_types` ADD COLUMN `client_id` int(11) NOT NULL DEFAULT 0;

then

Code: Select all

UPDATE `#_menu` SET `published` = 1 WHERE `menutype` = 'main' OR `menutype` = 'menu';

where ‘#’ is the prefix for your database tables.

Dared to update the second site, this time checking for db-errors first (were there!), fixed them (thanks leolam!) and update went thru without a hitch.

Столкнулся с проблемой, обратился Клиент, сайт которого взломали и заразили с тем, что после чистки файловой системы, когда стал обновлять версию Joomla c 3.4 до 3.8, после обновления не смог зайти в админку. Появлялось сообщение об ошибке 1054 — Unknown column ‘a.client_id’ in ‘where clause.

Лечится это добавлением в таблицу ПРЕФИКС__menu_types столбца client_id.

На практике нужно в PhpMyAdmin выполнить следующий SQL запрос:

ALTER TABLE ПРЕФИКС__menu_types ADD client_id INT.

После этой операции обязательно профиксите базу данных.

I have a new Joomla installation with this error:

1054 Unknown column 'extra_query' in 'field list' SQL=SELECT DISTINCT update_site_id, type, location, last_check_timestamp, extra_query FROM no3a2_update_sites WHERE enabled = 1

The error is displayed when I want to open my template settings. The template is from RocketTheme.

What can I do?

You give very little information to give a good answer, but there are a couple of things you can try:

  • Make sure both Joomla and your template is up to date
  • Re-upload your template if possible
  • Fix your database by going to Extension manager -> Database, and click the Fix button in the upper left corner

Error:

1054 Unknown column ‘a.extra_query’ in ‘field list’ SQL=SELECT DISTINCT a.update_site_id, a.type, a.location, a.last_check_timestamp, a.extra_query FROM #__update_sites AS a INNER JOIN #__update_sites_extensions AS b ON a.update_site_id = b.update_site_id WHERE a.enabled = 1 AND b.extension_id IN (700)

The error (or similar errors) shows that in #__update_sites table in your database the column named extra_query is missing, thus the query cannot be executed. The easiest way to handle this error is creating an extra_query column in that table. You can do that via phpMyAdmin area on your server account. There are a lot of easy instructions of how to do that, I just link one here:

The field type might be set to TEXT type (it could be VARCHAR or other type but TEXT is OK and later can be changed).

Maybe the earlier suggested fix database button pushing is even simpler solution in Joomla admin. The reason I’m giving the above as the answer is that I many times have seen this issue happened with other database table fields too during bigger upgrades, not only Joomla core table fields, and those might not be fixed within Joomla admin.

During the upgrade of Joomla sites there probably will be few similar issues (and probably some worse than this issue). So maybe it is better to turn on development mode in global configuration of your Joomla to see the full stack of errors if/when those happen…

The error is saying that your no3a2_update_sites table don’t contain any column named extra_query which might be used some where in your template.You can either create that column in your database to temporarily avoid it or try reinstalling the template.
