Dungeon Defenders Guide
Overview
Are you tired of getting the “Game Creation Failed” prompt when trying to create a server, and have no idea what to do? I’ll show you how to fix it.
The Error
This is the error that i’m talking about.
Reason why this happens
It’s usually caused by Hamachi. You don’t need to uninstall Hamachi like other people say you do to create a DD lobby, but it is a permanent fix (until you reinstall it)
The fix
Open up control panel.
Click Network and Internet.
Then click Network and Sharing Center.
Inside you should see your wifi, changing your network settings, etc. On the left click Change Adapter Settings.
You should see Hamachi, right click it and click disable
And you’re done.
Hopefully this fixed this for you.
If it didn’t i’m not sure what else to do other than to say check if Hamachi re-enabled itself.
edit:
i’m a dumbass, just turn off hamachi.
If you’re looking for a new isometric ARPG obsession, Wolcen: Lords Of Mayhem should fulfill that need nicely. The problem is getting the game to load. For the time being, the biggest battle ahead is just making a new character and starting the campaign.
As with many Early Access games, Wolcen‘s launch has been plagued by server issues and bugs, like the particularly obnoxious message greeting a bevy of players: “Game Creation Failed: Your game could not be created, please try again later.”
How to Fix the Wolcen Game Creation Failed Bug
The Wolcen launch bug preventing anyone from playing
So soon after launch, the fix is more of a workaround. The problem is almost certainly caused by overloaded servers and launch bugs that will be resolved in an upcoming Wolcen patch.
For now, the only surefire way to get playing is to go through this fairly quick process:
- Click “OK“ when the message appears
- Create a new character
- Click the “Switch to Offline Mode” button in the top-right corner
- Click “Play” to get started
While this fix appears to be working for all players every time, there is one big catch: offline mode characters are not compatible with online mode, and vice versa.
That might be a deal-breaker if you plan to switch to online mode with your friends later, as any progress you’ve made with your Wolcen build will be pointless.
If you don’t mind exclusively playing an offline, single-player game, or are planning to start over and try out a different build anyway, then that caveat shouldn’t be too big a deal. If not, you’ll have to wait until an official patch drops.
Have you found another way to get past the Wolcen game creation failed bug? Let us know what worked for you in the comments below, and stay tuned for our Wolcen character build and boss strategy guides coming soon.

Hi there!
So for multiple days I have tried tocreate a new game and every time I try I get the message: «Game creation failed. Please try again later.» I have tried clearing temp files and all regulair procedures incl. different browser.
Added Title, description, no gold features used, pioneer set to NO, country FREE, 50map, 0 teams, no PW, no waiting periods, reinforcements ON, anti cheat ON, start game NOW.
I have changed every setting individually and tried again to check if one of the settings is specifically broken, that does not apear to be the case as this has not resolved anything.
So a workaround/fix please?
Enlighten me if theres something im not aware of! Cheers

Hi,
I have tried most of the methods given, changing compatibility to windows 7, reinstalling the game, reinstalling framework 4.5.1.
after many tries, it worked for one game and now when i want to try a new game, it gives this error:

The process cannot access the file ‘C:UsersHanAppDataLocalTemptmp6542.tmp’ because it is being used by another process.
Hi,
could you please try disabling your antivirus software, or any other software you may think it could interfere with temporary files?
At the same time, could you also please try running the game as «Administrator» ?
Cheers.

Many thanks icarus86!
I tried excluding the files from the anti virius and i even turned it off, but it still doesnt work…
It will only work at very rare times which is rather frustrating just to play a game. i have encounter a new string of errors, hopefully someone can shed some light on it.

The error is the same: System.IO.IOException: The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.
Do you have any other gaming / monitoring software installed (such as nVIDIA GeForce Experience / AMD Gaming Evolved, or any system monitoring tool) ?
You could try performing a clean boot : https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/929135
Finally, I wrote a quick guide on how to use ProcMon to find which process may access the file:
icarus86 wrote:
Are you sure that you don’t have any anti-malware / anti-spyware / anything similar running in the background ?
There are some troubleshooting steps that I can propose.
Here I’m assuming that launching the game itself works, but starting a new game (single-player) doesn’t.
1. Download this tool https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/processmonitor.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396
2. Run the tool inside the ZIP (Procmon.exe)
3. Press CTRL+E to stop the current capture, then CTRL+X to clear the items captured so far
4. Start Endless Legend
5. Switch back to Procmon and press CTRL+E to start the capture
6. Switch back to Endless Legend and try to start a new game
7. As soon as you get the error message, switch back to Procmon and press CTRL+E stop the capture
Now comes the analysis part :
1. Press CTRL+L to bring up the filter dialog
2. Choose «Path» from the 1st drop-down
3. Choose «Contains» from the 2nd drop-down
4. Type in the name of the file referenced in the error message you got in Endless Legend (e.g. tmp5AE2.tmp in your earlier post)
5. Click on «Add», then on «OK»
6. From the left column (Process name) you should see which process interferes with this file
I know that this seems time-consuming, but I hope that we can find the culprit.
