Метод 1: Завершение процессов «Discord»

Возможно, ранее вы уже устанавливали Дискорд на свой компьютер и сейчас занимаетесь его переустановкой или несколько раз подряд пробовали запустить инсталляцию. Все эти факторы влияют на появление в операционной системе процессов, связанных с мессенджером. Если они находятся в активном режиме, установка может завершиться ошибкой, поэтому для начала нужно проверить эти процессы и отключить их все.

1. Щелкните по кнопке «Пуск» правой кнопкой мыши и выберите пункт «Диспетчер задач». Можете использовать другие методы запуска приложения: поиск через «Пуск» или горячую клавишу Ctrl + Shift + Esc.

2. В окне перейдите на вкладку «Подробности» и найдите процессы с названием «Discord».

3. Если такие обнаружены, щелкните по строке правой кнопкой мыши и выберите пункт «Снять задачу». «Завершить дерево процессов» используйте в том случае, если одинаковых процессов в списке несколько.

После выключения всех процессов, связанных с мессенджером, можете приступить к его повторной установке. Метод 2: Запуск инсталлятора от имени администратора

Один из самых простых способов исправления рассматриваемой ошибки – запуск установщика от имени администратора. Это нужно для обхода всех ограничений, которые могут возникнуть при попытке добавить новые файлы в системное хранилище или установить соединение с интернетом. 

Достаточно будет вызвать контекстное меню файла «Discord.exe» (установщика), щелкнув по нему правой кнопкой мыши, и выбрать пункт «Запуск от имени администратора». Если появится предупреждение о предоставлении прав, подтвердите его и приступайте к стандартной установке мессенджера.

Метод 3: Удаление остаточных файлов

Вы могли ранее использовать Дискорд на своем компьютере, а затем удалить, из-за чего в системных папках сохранились файлы кэша программы и другие связанные элементы. Они могут появиться и при первой попытке установки, а затем оказывать негативное влияние на повторную инсталляцию. Лучше все это очистить, а затем повторно приступить к взаимодействию с установщиком.

1. Вызовите утилиту «Выполнить», нажав сочетание клавиш Win + R. В поле укажите %AppData% и нажмите Enter для подтверждения команды.

2. В появившейся на экране папке отыщите директории с названиями «Discord» и «Discordptb», затем выделите их и щелкните по любой ПКМ.

3. В контекстном меню выберите пункт «Удалить» или нажмите по значку с корзиной (для Windows 11).

Метод 4: Скачивание актуальной официальной версии Discord

Не все пользователи еще могут определять официальные сайты программ и скачивают их установщики со сторонних ресурсов или же задействуют для инсталляции устаревшие версии. Все эти причины могут вызвать проблемы при установке, поэтому рекомендуется использовать исключительно официальный сайт Discord, к тому же само приложение бесплатное и не требует ничего для работы, кроме создания аккаунта.

Воспользуйтесь оставленной выше ссылкой, чтобы перейти на официальный сайт мессенджера. Нажмите кнопку «Загрузить для Windows» и ожидайте завершения загрузки исполняемого файла. Далее используйте его для стандартной установки.

Метод 5: Переход на публичную тестовую версию

Иногда оказывается, что стабильная версия Дискорда, которая скачивается по ссылке с официального сайта, по каким-то причинам конфликтует с железом, настройками сети или версией операционной системы. Случается такое редко, но все же имеет место. В этих случаях я бы рекомендовал попробовать публичную тестовую версию.

1. Для ее поиска на главной странице (ссылка в предыдущем методе), опуститесь в конец и нажмите кнопку «Загрузить».

2. Найдите кнопку «Загрузить публичную тестовую версию» и нажмите по ней.

3. Появится список с доступными операционными системами. Выберите среди них свою, начните скачивание и приступайте к установке.

Дополнительные советы

В завершение предоставлю несколько советов, которые будут эффективны лишь в индивидуальных случаях и описывать их детально нет смысла. Вы можете попробовать выполнить их самостоятельно, если так и не нашли решение ошибки «Installation has failed».

• Отключите сторонний антивирус. Если таковой у вас присутствует, рекомендую отключить на время установки Дискорда, чтобы не возникало никаких конфликтов.

• Проверьте или откатите обновления. Если вы отключили автоматическое обновление Windows, сначала рекомендую выполнить поиск обновлений. При недавнем переходе на новую сборку (например, 21h2) может помочь откат к предыдущей.

• Сбросьте сеть. Последний совет заключается в обнулении ваших сетевых настроек. Для этого в «Параметрах» понадобится открыть «Дополнительные параметры адаптера» и найти кнопку «Сброс сети». Решение

Как исправить Installation has failed в Discord?

1. Кликните правой кнопкой мыши на Пуск.
2. Зайдите в Панель управления.
3. Найдите Параметры проводника и зайдите в эту папку.
4. Перейдите во вкладку Вид.
5. Прокрутите открывшийся список вниз и отметьте пункт Показывать скрытые файлы и папки.
6. Зайдите в Проводник и перейдите на диск C.
7. Кликните на фолдер с именем своего пользователя.
8. Найдите AppData.
9. Теперь вам нужно будет удалить две папки. Войдите в Roaming и в ней снесите фолдер Discord. С ней проблем возникнуть не должно.
10. Вернитесь в AppData и зайдите в Local. В ней также нужно снести Discord. 

Если она не удалится, нужно отключить автозапуск мессенджера:

• переместитесь в Диспетчер задач, нажав Ctrl+Alt+Delete;
• перейдите во вкладку Автозагрузка ;

• нажмите правой клавишей на Дискорд и отключите;
• перезагрузите компьютер и удалите Discord из Local.

Второй вариант

Для второго варианта решения проблемы failed to extract installer вам понадобится ZIP-архиватор, скачать можно здесь.

• Переместите установочный файл мессенджера в Мои документы;
• запустите архиватор и найдите в нём наш ярлык;

• выделите его и нажмите Извлечь;

• появится одноимённая папка, зайдите в неё;

• вы увидите три ярлыка, выделите верхний и снова нажмите Извлечь;

• снова появится одноимённая папка, найдите её в Мои документы и откройте;

• перейдите в lib;

• прокрутите список вниз, найдите установочный discordsetupexe, installation has failed скоро решится. Кликните по файлу два раза.

Приложение должно запуститься.

Если вы попробовали указанные выше способы, а приложение всё равно не устанавливается, попробуйте откатить Винду к предыдущему обновлению. Возможно, оно просто несовместимо с мессенджером.

Is the “Installation has failed” error preventing you from installing and utilizing Discord in Windows? If so, you don’t have to miss out on Discord. This is how you can fix the “Installation has failed” error in Windows 10 and 11.

1. Download the Discord Setup File Again

First, try downloading the DiscordSetup.exe file again. This is suggested to double-check that the issue isn’t occurring because of a corrupted setup file. Click Download for Windows on the Discord website to obtain a new installer for the software. Then try installing Discord with the fresh setup wizard.

4. Double-click MicrosoftProgram_Install_and_Uninstall.meta.diagcab to launch the troubleshooter.
   
5. Select Next to go to the first step.
6. Click Installing to view a program list.
7. Select Discord if you can see that software on the list. If Discord isn’t there, click the Not listed option.
   
8. Then press Next again to start troubleshooting.

3. Disable Any Background Discord Processes

Some users have said disabling Discord background processes can resolve the issue. If you’ve previously installed and used the software, there could be some related background Discord processes or services that need disabling. This is how you can check for and disable Discord background processes in Windows 10 and 11:

1. Launch Task Manager by pressing Win + X and clicking its shortcut. Check out how to launch Task Manager on Windows for more methods.
2. Click Processes if Task Manager opens with a different tab.
3. Look for Discord-related processes within the Background processes section.
4. Right-click any Discord process you find and select End task.
   
5. Repeat the fourth step for all Discord-related processes.
6. Try installing Discord after disabling related background processes.

4. Delete Any Leftover Discord Data Folders

Erasing leftover Discord data is one of the most widely confirmed resolutions for the “Installation has failed” error (especially when combined with the third solution). That’s a potential fix more applicable to users who’ve previously installed Discord. If there are leftover Discord data folders on your PC, make sure you delete them as follows:

1. Open the Power User menu (right-click the Start icon), and select Run.
   
2. Type %appdata% into Run and click OK to bring up a Roaming directory.
3. Right-click a Discord data folder in the Roaming directory to select Delete.
   
4. Launch Run again, and input %localappdata% inside its Open box.
5. Select OK to view a Local folder.
6. Right-click a Discord data folder there if you can find one and select Delete.

5. Run the Discord Setup File as an Administrator

Running the Discord setup file as an administrator will ensure the installer has fuller system access, which might make a difference. To do so, open whatever folder includes the DiscordSetup.exe file. Then right-click DiscordSetup.exe to select its Run as administrator option.

6. Install the .NET Framework on Windows

Discord’s “Installation has failed” error can occur because the .NET Framework is missing. If something has happened to .NET Framework on your PC, you may need to install it again. This is how to install .NET Framework 4.5 on Windows:

1. Open this Microsoft .NET Framework page.
2. Select .NET Framework’s Download option.
3. Bring up the directory containing the downloaded dotNetFx45_Full_setup.exe file in Explorer.
4. Double-click dotNetFx45_Full_setup to open the Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5 window.
   
5. Click Continue if that option isn’t grayed out.

7. Turn Off Antivirus Utilities Before Installing Discord

It’s not entirely unusual for antivirus utilities to cause third-party software installation issues. Antivirus apps are designed to block malware from installing, but can sometimes confuse legitimate third-party software packages to be something they aren’t. So, it’s recommended users turn off antivirus shields before attempting to install Discord.

You can turn off the Windows Security real-time protection by following the instructions in our how to disable Microsoft Defender article. If you’ve got third-party antivirus software installed, right-click its icon within the system tray to select an option for temporarily disabling the shield. You can also probably find a disable shield option within its settings tab.

8. Try Installing Discord in Safe Mode

Some background third-party apps and drivers can also feasibly generate Discord installation issues. So, it’s also possible something in the background other than antivirus software could be causing the “Installation has failed” installation error on your PC. You can eliminate such a potential cause by installing Discord in the Windows safe mode, which disables superfluous background apps and drivers.

There are numerous ways to enter safe mode in Windows. You can do so with any of the methods in our guide for how to enter safe mode on Windows. Select the Enable Safe Mode with Networking option on the Startup Settings menu. Then download Discord again and try installing it in safe mode.

Get Chatting Again in Discord for Windows

If you are trying to install Discord on your Windows PC but getting the error “Discord installation has failed” then you have to the right place. In this fixing guide, I am going to show you various fixes that you can try in order to rectify the issue where you are getting the error message “Discord installation has failed” upon installing Discord on your Windows 11 or Windows 10 PC.

Discord is one of the most widely used communication platforms, mostly used by gamers followed by users of various different communities. And not getting a part of your favorite discord channel/server can be frustrating just because you are not able to install the discord app on your Windows PC. This becomes even more frustrating when Windows doesn’t tell you exactly why this is happening.

If you are also going through all of this on your Windows 11 or Windows 10 PC, go through this fixing guide to get a proper fix.

Fixing this issue can be as simple as cleaning the previous cache files of Discord. But since we don’t have an exact idea about why is this error popping up, we are going to perform a number of troubleshooting to properly install Discord on our Windows PC.

1. Kill the Discord Process

If the installation was not successful on the first attempt, it is firstly recommended to disable the Discord process from the Windows Task Manager.

1. Search and open Task Manager. You can also press Ctrl + Shift +Esc key combination on your keyboard.

2. Switch to the Processes tab.

3. Now, under the Name column, look for Discord or any Discord-related process that is running.

4. If there is any, then select it and click on End task.

Do this to all the Discord processes if there is more than one. Once done, try to install Discord again.

2. Delete the Discord stored data

There can be some Discord data in the Windows Root destination, stored during the unsuccessful installation. The data can also be there if you had Discord on your PC in the past.

This old data can interfere during the installation process. Hence it is advised to delete the discord data from your PC.

1. Open the Run Dialog box by pressing Win + R on your keyboard.

2. Type-in %AppData% in the Run field and click on OK.

3. The Roaming folder will open in File Explorer. Look for the Discord folder and delete it.

4. Again open the Run dialog box, and this time type in %LocalAppData%.

5. Again a File Explorer window will open. Look for the Discord folder here also and delete it.

Once you have deleted the Discord folder from both the above-mentioned locations, head over to the Discord setup and try to install the app again.

3. Check for pending optional updates

There can be some Windows options updates that may be pending. This can lead to the Discord app not being installed and being conflicted by incompatibility issues of any of these pending updates.

Hence you should check for pending optional updates as these updates often include some of the important driver updates.

1. Open Settings on your PC by pressing Win + I on the keyboard.

2. Go to Windows Update > Advanced options.

3. Now, scroll down to the Additional options section and click on Optional updates.

4. If there are updates that are yet to be installed, then checkmark the updates and click on the Download & install button.

After updating all the additional updates, restart your PC and try to install Discord once again.

4. Try disabling your Antivirus Program temporarily

Maybe the Antivirus program that you are using to safeguard your PC from malware and virus attacks is the culprit. This can happen if your Antivirus program is not recognizing your Discord setup file as a genuine file.

However, if you have downloaded the Discord setup file from a genuine source i.e. from the Discord download page you can try installing the app after disabling the antivirus program.

Disabling the antivirus can be different from different antivirus programs but in most cases, you should be able to get the icon of your antivirus in the icon tray located at the right of the taskbar.

5. Check for Windows Updates

The issue can also occur in the case you are having a major pending Windows update. This can cause incompatibility with the new apps and with their installation. Hence check if there is any pending Windows update available.

1. Open Windows Settings by pressing Win + I.

2. Go to Windows updates from the left pane.

3. Finally, click on the Check for updates button to begin the check for pending updates on your PC.

If there is any update that is pending, then click on Download & install and finally restart your PC. Upon restart open the discord setup file and try to install the app again.

6. Install the latest Microsoft .NET Framework

Usually, the PC is pre-installed with Microsoft.NET Framework but if it is not there or is outdated, then you may need to face problems with your PC.

The .NET Framework is a Microsoft-developed architecture that consists of various classes and libraries, that can be utilized by the developers to build the Windows app based on them.

Hence you should have the latest version of the .NET framework.

1. Head over to the .NET Framework download page.

2. Select the appropriate version and download its Runtime version.

3. Once downloaded, open the file and install it just the way you install other apps and programs.

Once the installation is done, restart your PC and try to install Discord again.

7. Relocate the Discord installation folder

If any of the above-mentioned fixes work for you. Then you can try manually relocating the discord installation folder. This process is going to require an extraction program like 7-Zip.

Using this program we’ll be manually extracting and relocating the discord installation file to the installation directory. Or you can say that we will be manually doing the work of that an installer does.

1. Once you are all set with the extraction program installed, head over to the DiscordSetup.exe file.

2. Right-click on the file, select Show more options.

3. From the list of more options right-click the menu, click on 7-Zip, and select the Extract to “DiscordSetup” option.

4. This will create a DiscordSetup folder in the directory where you have the DiscordSetup.exe file.

5. Now, Move this newly created DiscordSetup folder to the C Drive.

6. Now, open that folder that you have moved to C Drive, right-click on the Discord-1.0.9004-full.nupkg file (the name may vary depending on the version of your Discord app), and click on Show more options. This will open the full list of right-click options.

7. From the list again click on 7-Zip and select the Extract to “Discord-1.0.9004-full”. This will again create a folder by the name Discord-1.0.9004-full in the same location.

8. Open this folder and navigate to lib > net45.

9. Inside the net45 folder you’ll find the Discord app. Double-click to open it and Discord should get open on your PC this time.

If the app gets open, then you can create a desktop shortcut of the Discord.exe file so that you can open it directly from the desktop.

So this is how you can solve the issue of Discord’s failed installation. In most cases, deleting the Discord data, or ending the background Discord process solves the issue of the “Discord installation has failed” error.

But if such things don’t work for you, then you can try disabling the antivirus, updating Windows/drivers, and updating the .NET framework. Lastly, if nothing works, then you can try manually extracting and relocating the Discord installation files.
