What happened?

So i tried to install LabVIEW on my computer using sandboxie and it shows an error during the installation of «NI Package Manager» (if you strart installation of labview it firstly installs app called «NI Package Manager»).
As far as I know it has the free version which is called «Community» but you might need to create account to download it.

The error looks this way:
error box screenshot

«NI Package Manager
An error occurred when launching the following required file: ‘GUIExecutableFullPath». The installer might be corrupted. Try redownloading the installer or using a new media distribution.»

To Reproduce

  1. Go to https://www.ni.com/pl-pl/support/downloads/software-products/download.labview.html or to https://www.ni.com/pl-pl/support/downloads/software-products/download.academic-site-license.html if you have academic license.
  2. Download LabVIEW (I have been testing 32 bit and 64 bit versions and offline and online installlers, but looks like the Community version have only 64bit offline installer)
  3. Open the «.ios» file by double clicking (only if you downloaded offline installer) and then run the «.exe» installer inside sandboxie and try to install until you will see error message.

I do it from Control Panel (type «Control Panel» in the Search Bar near the Start Button).  Choose Programs and Features.  Find «National Instruments Software».  Click and choose «Remove All».  Note you need Admin Rights!

This brings up NIPM.  You want to «Remove All», which you can do by checking the little Square in the upper right.  Be sure «Products Only» is not checked.  When it finishes (it may take some time, measured in minutes), reboot and do it again.

At some point, the only thing left to remove will be NIPM.  It will warn you about removing it, but if it is the only thing left, go ahead.  Reboot.

Now do one last pass.  I’ve seen stuff «left behind» that has escaped NIPM’s vigilance.

Do not use any tools that mess with the Registry!  If you do, you may find yourself in the situation of needing to reinstall everything (including Windows!) or, alternatively, buy a new Computer for running LabVIEW.

Welcome to LabVIEW and welcome to the forums, hope you enjoy your stay :D

LabVIEW does not yet officially support Windows 10, see LabVIEW Operating System Support. That being said I’ve successfully installed LV2011 and LV2015 (x64) on Windows 10 and had no problems with the installer (don’t know about LV2014 though). As far as I can tell from your screenshots, LabVIEW is already installed on your system (does not require any more disk space). Are you sure that’s not the case?

Did you install LabVIEW before upgrading to Windows 10? => Check if there is a folder «C:Program FilesNational Instruments»

Let me already give you answers to two possible scenarios:

  1. If you can find the «National Instruments» folder under «Program Files» you have most likely upgraded from a previous Windows version without resetting your computer. That might work for many applications, however in my experience this causes more trouble than resetting your computer and installing everything from scratch. Check the Recovery options in Windows 10 to learn how to do that (use the ‘Remove everything’) option and make sure to create backups of your important files first. This will of course require you to install and configure all of your applications again (including all settings you’ve don in Windows)! Don’t do that if you don’t know how!

  2. It might be that LV2014 specifically has issues on Windows 10. Your license key will work with different versions of LabVIEW however (should work with every version from 8.0 upwards). Try downloading the latest version from their site (search over the web, or go to their FTP servers). Try installing LabVIEW 2015 (x64). Here is the direct link: ftp://ftp.ni.com/evaluation/labview/ekit/other/downloader/2015LV-64WinEng.exe

Hope this works for you.
