Symptoms

You have the original release version of the 2007 Microsoft Office programs installed. When you try to open a file that was saved in a prerelease version of Microsoft Office Excel 2007, Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007, or Microsoft Office Word 2007, you may receive one of the following messages:

Message 1

This file was created in a previous beta version of program 2007 and cannot be opened in this version.Message 2

This file was created in a previous beta version of program 2007. program will convert it to the most recent version of the program 2007 file format when you save the file. Before opening this file, verify that it is from a trusted source.Message 3

This workbook was created in an earlier beta version of Excel 2007, and it cannot be opened in the current version of Excel. To open the workbook, you must first open and save it in Excel 2007 Beta 2, and then you can open it in the current version of Excel.Message 4

This workbook was created in an earlier beta version of Excel 2007. Excel will convert the workbook to the most recent version of the Excel 2007 file format when you save it. Before opening this workbook, verify that it is from a trusted source.

Cause

This issue may occur because, by default, some Open XML files that were saved in the prerelease versions of the 2007 Office programs cannot be opened by the release versions of the 2007 Office programs.

The following tables summarize the messages that you may receive in the release version of the 2007 Office programs when you open a file that was saved in a prerelease version.

Workaround

There is no workaround that enables you to open files that were saved in a prerelease version of the 2007 Office programs that is earlier than the Beta 2 release version.

More Information

A policy is available that lets an administrator aggressively block the opening of pre-release files. When the policy is enabled, you may receive the following messages when you try to open a prerelease file in the release version of the 2007 Office programs, as summarized in the following tables.

To enable the policy, follow these steps.

Note Because there are several versions of Microsoft Windows, the following steps may be different on your computer. If they are, see your product documentation to complete these steps.

  1. Exit the 2007 Office programs.

  2. Click Start, click Run, type gpedit.msc in the Open box, and then click OK.

  3. Right-click Administrative Templates, and then click Add/Remove Templates.

  4. Click Add.

  5. Locate and select one or more of the following Administrative Templates, and then click Open.

    • Excel12.adm

    • Ppt12.adm

    • Word12.adm

  6. Click Close.

  7. Expand Administrative Templates.

  8. Click Microsoft Office Word 2007.

  9. Expand Block file formats.

  10. Click Open.

  11. Double-click the Blocks opening of prerelease versions of file formats new to Word 2007 policy.

  12. Click Enabled, and then click OK.

  13. Repeat steps 8 to 12 for the Excel 2007 policy and for the PowerPoint 2007 policy.

  14. Restart the 2007 Office programs.

прочесть статью 922850 на сайте майкрософт, обычно они все подробно разжевывают 🙂 вот цитат из нее: Закройте Word 2007. Выберите в меню Пуск пункт Выполнить, введите в поле Открыть команду regedit и нажмите кнопку ОК. Найдите и выделите следующий подраздел реестра: HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwarePoliciesMicrosoftOffice12.0WordSecurityFileOpenBlock Примечание. Данный подраздел реестра может отсутствовать. В этом случае его необходимо создать. Щелкните правой кнопкой мыши параметр InternalFiles и выберите пункт Изменить. В поле Значение введите 0 и нажмите кнопку ОК. В меню Файл выберите команду Выход, чтобы закрыть редактор реестра.

Как составить запрос к Базе Знаний

Если результаты поиска вас не устраивают, можно переключиться на расширенный поиск.

Использование ключевых слов при поиске
Статьи имеют раздел Ключевые слова (в конце статьи). База Знаний имеет большой размер и постоянно обновляется. Чтобы автоматизировать эту работу, группа, ответственная за управление Базой Знаний, регулярно добавляет в статьи Базы Знаний ключевые слова. Эти ключевые слова можно использовать для поиска статей, относящихся к определенной проблеме.
Например, при поиске статей по мультизагрузке можно использовать ключевое слово kbDualBoot, при поиске сведений по форматированию — kbformat

Использование уникальных слов в запросе
«Волшебных слов» для запроса Базы Знаний не существует. Следует использовать уникальные слова, что существенно уменьшает размеры поиска, увеличивая его скорость.

Не следует использовать общие слова типа Microsoft. Слово Microsoft появляется в каждой статье Базы Знаний, и вообще не должно использоваться в запросах.

Поиск сведений о файлах .dll
Для поиска сведений о файлах .dll следует воспользоваться DLL Help Database. Эта база данных содержит сведения о файлах .dll, которые включены в выбранные продукты Microsoft. Справка по файлам .dll помогает разработчикам, системным администраторам и другим ИТ-специалистам, занимающимся устранением конфликтов версий файлов в программном обеспечении Microsoft. You receive an error message when you try to open or to save a file type that was blocked by your registry policy settings in one of the Office 2010 programs, in one of the 2007 Office programs or in one of the Office 2003 programs.

When you use one of the Microsoft Office 2010 programs, one of the 2007 Microsoft Office programs, or one of the Microsoft Office 2003 programs that are listed in the “Applies to” section, you may experience one of the following symptoms:

  • When you try to open a file, the file does not open, and you receive one of the following error messages:

    You are attempting to open a file that is blocked by your registry policy setting.

    -or-

    You are attempting to open a file type <<File Type>> that has been blocked by your File Block settings in the Trust Center.


    Note     In this message, the <<File Type>> placeholder provides a short description of the file type that has been blocked. This is the error message that appears in Office 2010 programs.

    -or-

    You are attempting to open a file that was created in an earlier version of Microsoft Office. This file type is blocked from opening in this version by your registry policy setting.

    Additionally, you may see the following message:

    This error occurs if you try to open a Microsoft Office document and the file type for that document has been blocked by a registry policy setting. To help secure your computer, Microsoft or the administrator of this computer implemented a registry policy setting that prevents opening this type of file.

    To open documents with this file type, disable the registry policy setting. For more information, see Microsoft Knowledge Base article 922850.

    Note In Office 2010 programs, the blocked file may be opened in Protected View. At the top of the window, there will be a bar that has the following message:

I found a workaround…

1) Put the document into a Word 2007 «trusted location»
2) Add one or more «trusted locations» to the registry.

To find current trusted locations, look at the registry key:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftOffice12.0WordSecurityTrusted
Locations]

You can add a location key (locationN). A good one to copy from when adding
is Location1 because it has the flag «AllowSubFolders».

An easy way to add a location is to right click a location, choose «export»
and export a file (e.g., x.reg) to your desktop. Open the file in an editor,
change line 3, the key name, (e.g., location1 to location3); change line 5,
the location (e.g., «C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Templates\» to
your path; and change line 6 so that the description is the same number as
the location (e.g., location3 description will be «3».

Recently I just reinstalled my Visio with Visio 2013.  When I opened the document (that was save in the earlier version), I couldn’t open my Visio documents.  The error is as follow :

So did the following :

  • Click on the File tab
  • Click Options
  • Click Trust Center, then click Trust Center Settings.

  • Next select File Block Settings.
  • Then UNCHECK the File type.
  • then click OK

Now the old Visio documents can be open.
