  1. 2017 Volvo VNL + D13
    Every time this truck hits a hill, it generates this code and significantly loses power for the rest of the day. We have done all the basics, like check fuel filters and even changed a harness (I believe) for the EPRV system under the valve cover. ALSO, we got a hold of an EPRV-delete kit and it was installed with reprogramming by Dothan Volvo. Driver took it out on the first load and same problem returned. Any ideas?????? It’s been one thing we can’t solve — and there’s very little info on the Web about this code.

    He’s able to get back to speed on flat ground and make his trips but his power is quite reduced. So it’s certainly not a 5 mph derate, and I don’t suspect it’s a derate of any kind because there’s no warning or advisory on the dash saying he’s derated.

    He DID have a code that pointed to the particulate-matter sensor, but those allegedly do not cause de-rates or affect performance. Is that also for sure on these D13s? That code is DTC P24B100

  3. need to look at pressure sensor on the rail or also it can be caused by one of the pumping injectors working to much or overtime i should say. did volvo say anything about this code in particular.

  4. Thank you. That’s a good new avenue for us. They didn’t advise on that code that I know of, but the driver has been the contact. I should ask him for a copy of the paperwork to see if there were any comments.

  5. usually every code they have comes with dummy diagnostics is what i call it it will give you an idea of what is causing the fault i would check the fuel psi sensor on the rail they are notorious for failures also harness has to be update with sensor as well.

    Have you guys been able to find out the problem that caused that P228F00 code?

  7. Sadly we are still chasing this problem. He’s still losing power on even tiny hills and still getting the P228F00. I’ve confirmed this morning he has the correct new fuel-rail-pressure sensor in, Part No. 23488939, which is a Delphi component with its own part no. of 28672623. We’ve put that sensor in, changed the harness, done an EPRV delete, and this still happens. Whenever he hits a hill, he can expect the power to drop drastically. Oddly he won’t have the same problem fully loaded and flooring it to build speed on an onramp. The condition lasts for the whole day after that. After a shutoff and restart, it goes away. Because of this, he’s staying in flat states.

    We’re wondering about external causes now, even crazy ones, like ping-pong balls or sand in the fuel tank or something restricting fuel flow in a filter housing — anything that would cause erratic fuel pressures. The code description for P228F00 is «Fuel Pressure Regulator Exceeded Learning Limits — Too High, No Sub Type Information.» Is there even really a «fuel-pressure regulator» on the engine??

    Thinking of diagnosing with help of a dyno???

    Регулятор давления топлива и датчик давления топлива могут быть отдельными компонентами. Но чаще всего они объединены в единый корпус и имеющий один электрический разъем.

    Если PCM обнаруживает высокое напряжение в цепи регулятора давления топлива 1, которое находится выше предела определенного параметра. То сохраниться код неисправности P228F, и может загореться индикаторная лампа неисправности (MIL). Также, произойдет принудительное отключение двигателя.

    Симптомы неисправности

    Основным симптомом появления ошибки P228F для водителя является подсветка MIL (индикатор неисправности). Также его называют Check engine или просто «горит чек».

    Также они могут проявляться как:

    1. Загорится контрольная лампа «Check engine» на панели управления (код будет записан в память как неисправность).

    Топливные магистрали и регулятор

    Датчик давления топлива

    Проверьте датчик давления топлива, сняв разъем и проверив сопротивление на клеммах, используя вольтомметр. Сопротивление должно быть в пределах заводских спецификаций. Проверить опорное напряжение к датчику давления топлива, оно должно быть около 5 вольт, в зависимости от автомобиля.

    Если напряжение не соответствует техническим характеристикам, осмотрите проводку, чтобы определить, есть ли чрезмерное сопротивление в проводе. Оно должно быть очень низким, близким к 0 Ом. Если присутствует сопротивление, возможно, произошло замыкание на массу, и необходимо будет отследить проводку, чтобы определить место замыкания.

    Hi. 
    I think you need to replace rail pressure sensor and harness to this sensor. Let me know what kind of engine you have? 11L or 13L then I can give you a parts number for both.

    Let’s go slowly, is it a Renault common rail system or a injector?

    This in the picture is the cylinder balancing. In tab Test under group 23 find test «common rail system…» then test it. Or find someone who has used Techtool a little longer.

    Dealer now supplying update flash and remove rail pressure regulator but my truck still setting this code 
    Any Ktag dimsport expert fixes for this terrible problem? Thanks

    This fault doesn’t mean you need to replace the pressure sensor it means the fuel pressure regulator is having to work overtime to maintain fuel pressure in the rail so you either have a leak ie pressure relief valve or injector leak off or you could have an issue creating the pressure in the 1st place ie 1 of the pump unit injectors not contributing due to being worn or a spun cam lobe for the pump unit injectors. 
    There is a good case study covering this fault on PicoAuto and is very easy to diagnose accurately especially if you have a scope.
