If you’re getting error C1-2741-4 on your PlayStation Vita, follow the troubleshooting instructions listed in this article to fix it. We’ll also explain you what’s the root-cause for this error code.

Fixing error C1-2741-4: Memory card or PS Vita card error

First things first, restart the console. Sometimes this simple action may fix the problem allowing you resume your gaming session within minutes.

This error is often triggered by memory card issues. So, turn off your device again and this time try to remove and then reinsert the card. Also, if it’s possible, blow out the slot using compressed air to make sure there are no dust particles that could interfere with card reading.

⇒ Important! If you remove the memory card while the console/game is still on, this will mess up save data.

If nothing worked, you may have to format your card in Safe Mode. Turn the console off. Now hold down the Power button, PS button and Right Shoulder button for 5 seconds. Press and hold down these three buttons simultaneously until the console boots in Safe Mode. Then select the option Format Memory Card.

If formatting your card didn’t work either, this could mean your memory card is faulty, so you need a new one.

⇒ Note: Sony discontinued Vita back in 2019. While this good old console may still carry dear memories for you, maybe it’s time to consider going for an upgrade. As always, discontinued devices and services are more prone to technical problems.

It happened lately, every other time I turn on my vita and launch a game, I always get error C1-2741-4, when it happens, I turn it completely off and turn on again, then the games launches fine, but then I turn it completely off and turn on again, the same error occurs, so it just keeps on going in a sequence like that, does anyone know what is going on? I am running on 3.60 henkaku enso.

Do you have the problem if you disable all your plugins? Maintain L trigger on the PS Vita start to do it.

even if I disable the plugins, still the same problem, I am beginning to wonder if my sony 32gb vita memory card is going bad, I tried to format it and I get an error (C4-10278-8)» could not format, and many times when I put the vita on standby and turn it on again, it tells me that the memory card has been removed but I never touched it

Sony’s PS Vita memory cards quality is deemed to be bad (even when the PS Vita wasn’t hacked, I saw a lot of forum topics about it).
Do you have the same problem if you rely on your console internal memory (no memory card inserted) or a SD2Vita adapter?

It is, as long as you don’t update the firmware on the Vita.

So far so good, no error at all with just my internal memory card; I took my 32gb out and did a full system restore and then reinstall henkaku enso and some games, no error at all after I turn off and on.
What I am afraid of now is to reinsert my 32gb and let it move the files from the internal memory card to the 32gb lol, just afraid that error would show up again, but I suspect that my 32gb memory card may not be bad, maybe it has something to do with doing a full system restore that fixed the problem?

Backup the contents on the memory card and reinsert it on the Vita afterwards, if the error pops again you know what is causing it.

And anyway, you can restore the Vita again to overcome it.

    RIP my 64GB memory card (Error C1-2741-4).

    Haven’t touched my Vita for about a year because of life, other games. Saw Utawarerumono on sale so I grabbed it and got my Vita to download. Started getting this error whenever I tried to do anything (deleted old games, start up games, etc.).

    I’ve formatted the card but it looks like it’s kaput. RIP 64GB card. And also I guess I just threw $30 away for a game I can’t download and play.

    Basically my 64 GB Vita memory card crashed again loading Hatsune Miku Project Diva F 2nd, forcing me to reformat (though apparently I could’ve just rebuilt the database several times to get the lost games back).

    Now I’m putting all games 900 MB or over onto my 64 GB card. I tried starting Persona 4 Golden and got error C1-2741-4 every time. Powering off and powering on again didn’t fix it. So I played a bit of WipEout 2048 which I know saves pretty frequently and then P4G was working again.
