Where are the crash logs located?

Im running Linux and I havent seen anyone say where the crash logs are for the game on my platform. Anyone know?

My game keeps crashing (likely because of one of my many, many mods, but this isn’t about that) and I do not know why. I have seen past posts both on this site and on reddit citing the location of crash reports in the game’s files, but the locations they say the logs are do not seem to exist. I can only assume that the crash logs location has changed in a past update.

So my question, where are the crash logs located?


Just a question back.
Does rimworld show you it is crashed, with a crash window that tells you the name of the crash folder  and you need to close it with OK ?
Or does rimworld just close/quiet without any warning ?

I am not sure, but these crash log folders should be found at the rimworld installation folder, alternative at the safe data area where the normal logfile are located.

And be sure that mod’s don’t give out error’s after rimworld start/mod activation.
Better don’t use such mods.

before anyone asks why I’m postsing on an older thread, well this one came up in my google search for where the crash logs are located.
Turns out having them hidden in local low is difficult to find them when you forget local low is even a folder…

btw copy and paste that % line into a runbox, should open right up to the log location if you do it right.

the end of the log file should contain what crashed you, however understanding it, is the hard part.

Mine was a crash related to apparently how the game thought something had a limb in combat from a mod that re-added them, however that’s not updated to latest rimworld..  So caused a memory access violation at random.


Where are the crash logs located on Linux? I don’t have an %appdata% folder.

RimWorld is a simulation game available for Steam. It features a retro look to it, but certainly isn’t anything like most retro simulation games players might be familiar with. It has unique premises and situations for players to deal with along with a load of different things to do as well as explore.

The game itself is quite fun, but the errors related to it certainly aren’t all that fun to deal with. One issue in particular, which is the RimWorld error loading map, is especially annoying because it can cause the game to just crash at random times.

Here’s how anyone encountering such an error can deal with it.

Solutions for RimWorld Error Loading Map

  1. Try Restarting

The obvious solution which we recommend to all players who have only encountered this error message once is to restart the game. It is more than likely that this was just a one-time thing that occurred for random reasons, meaning that restarting the game should be more than enough to do the trick.

Simply close the game and end all processes related to it once the error message pops up. If necessary, we recommend restarting your computer entirely as well. Once the device has been rebooted, simply launch RimWorld and continue from the most recent save. There likely won’t be any further errors.

  1. Verify Game Files

If the error is persistent despite the restart, we recommend ensuring there are no issues with the game and its files. To do such a thing, users just need to go into their Steam library and locate RimWorld from within said library.

Go to the game’s settings through the Steam client and there will be an option allowing users to conduct a scan on its files to identify any issues with their integrity. Conduct this scan and Steam will take care of the rest, fixing the issue if game files were to blame.

  1. Try the Backup Save File

Save files being corrupted is another reason for this problem, and unfortunately there’s nothing that the previously listed Steam scan will be able to do if these specific files are the ones to blame for the error. However, that doesn’t mean that users themselves can’t do something about it.

There are backup save files that store your data as you play, meaning that using these can help users as well. Go to the game’s save folder and locate “rws.old”. Rename the current save and then remove the “.old” bit from the backup save. Now restart the game and it’ll run without this error occurring again.

  1. Remove Mods

If all else has failed, there’s only one thing left to do and that’s to remove any and all mods you’re using for the game. Alternatively, there’s the option to remove only the newest ones or the specific ones that are causing this error message to appear if players know which ones they are.

Проблема не открывается, с которой сталкиваются

игроки RimWorld, может возникать по многим причинам. Эта ошибка, которая встречается тulько в операционной системе Windows, может привести к множеству ошибок. Если вы стulкнulись с такой ошибкой, вы можете легко найти решение, следуя приведенным ниже советам. Чтобы избавиться от того, что RimWorld не открывается, нам сначала нужно выяснить, почему мы сталкиваемся с такой ошибкой. Тогда мы сможем найти корень ошибки и найти решение.

Почему RimWorld не открывается?

Для пulьзователей с видеокартой Nvidia

  • Прежде всего, Geforce Experience Нам нужно скачать и установить программу.
  • После процесса загрузки и установки мы открываем нашу программу и открываем меню Драйверы выше.
  • Загрузите наше обновление, нажав кнопку Загрузить выше.
  • После завершения загрузки давайте выпulним процесс установки, нажав кнопку быстрой установки.

Для пulьзователей с видеокартой AMD

  • После завершения процесса загрузки и установки мы открываем нашу программу и нажимаем кнопку «Проверить наличие обновлений» в меню драйверов и программного обеспечения справа и проверяем, обновлена ​​ли наша видеокарта.

Для пulьзователей с видеокартой Intel;

  • Нажмите в меню «Защита от программ-вымогателей«.
  • Отключите «Контрulируемый доступ к папкам» на открывшемся экране.

После этого отключим постоянную защиту.

  • Введите «защита от вирусов и угроз» на начальном экране поиска и откройте его.
  • Затем нажмите «Управление настройками«.
  • Установите для защиты в режиме реального времени значение «Выкл«.

После выпulнения этой операции нам нужно будет добавить файлы игры RimWorld в качестве исключения.

  • Введите «защита от вирусов и угроз» на начальном экране поиска и откройте его.

  • Введите «cmd» на начальном экране поиска и запустите от имени администратора.
  • Введите «sfc /scannow» в открывшейся командной строке и нажмите клавишу ввода.

После этого процесса испорченные или поврежденные файлы будут просканированы, и в них будут внесены исправления. Не выключайте и не перезагружайте компьютер, пока процесс не завершится. После этого процесса давайте выпulним еще одно предложение.

Выпulнить сканирование DISM

  • Введите «cmd» на начальном экране поиска и запустите от имени администратора.
  • Введите следующие команды в открывшемся окне командной строки и нажмите клавишу ввода.
    • Dism/Online/Cleanup-Image/CheckHealth
    • Dism/Online/Cleanup-Image/ScanHealth

Development mode is a feature on the user interface that serves both as a debugging tool for developers and as a cheat menu for most other players.

When active, it is seen as an additional menu on the top of the screen.

Options[edit]

Development mode can be enabled via the Options in the Menu, accessible via the toolbar or the ESCAPE key. Under Options, there is an option for «Development Mode». Toggle this option to a tick to turn on development mode.

Permanently disable[edit]

In the Options menu in-game, you have the choice to ‘permanently’ disable development mode after you have enabled the developer mode. This prevents you from cheating using this.

Enabling this option creates an empty file called ‘DevModeDisabled’ in the RimWorld config folder.

You can reset it by deleting this ‘DevModeDisabled’ file from the RimWorld config folder

— Press the Start/WindowsKey + R > Enter «%appdata%» and press enter > then navigate to LocalLow -> Ludeon Studios -> Rimworld by Ludeon Studios -> Config
In Linux:

DebugLog.png Debug log[edit]

An output log for debugging. Shows errors if they occur, as well as debug outputs.

PackageEditor.png Package editor[edit]

It allows you to edit game data while the game is running. Currently limited to sound and colonist hairstyles.

ViewSettings.png View settings[edit]

Toggles special debug visuals, such as shooting hit chances, infestation chances and toggling fog (fog of war) and snow visibility.
It also allows some debug settings, for example unlimited power, toggling damage and fast research—> instant research done, faster learning (i.e. instant boost to lv 20 upon doing a task), ecology, crafting, caravans, etc. Another setting which can be useful to enable, is the setting to draw paths, paths are drawn, so you can see where pawns, animals and colonist are pathing to. Those settings will not be saved so you need to enable them each time if you want to use those settings.

Forces a variety of things to happen. Many things can be done from here; spawning items and pawns, executing events, downing/ killing pawns, they are all done through this menu.
Another useful option is to set terrain (rect) this option allows you to change the terrain, when clicking on this option you can choose from all terrains and modded terrains. You want to build but the terrain is muddy or water tiles are in the way, and walls are not supported on light terrain. You can choose e.g. for soil, you can set the area with dragging your mouse cursor from starting point to endpoint. Than a selection rectangle will appear and the selected area will be replaced with the set terrain. In short select a ground type or floor type and select the area where it should be placed.

Where some debugging information can be found, like crop economy, item nutrition, and such. It’s also called debug outputs, when clicking on for example apparel or beauties you can see a list of all items that adds beauty points to rooms or buildings. If you want to know which clothing is considered clothing for nudists you can find it here as well.

GodMode.png God mode[edit]

Toggles god mode. While active, all player-buildable buildings are available without research, and are constructed instantly and at no cost when placing down the blueprint. Note that «deconstructing» is instantaneous, but leaves behind resources as appropriate to the item(s) deconstructed. To remove these items, or any others, use the «T: Kill» or T: Destroy» commands under the Debug section.

Mining orders are also completed instantly upon designation but return the minimum yield.

God mode can be also toggled through ‘View Settings’.

Autopause[edit]

Toggles autopause when an error is logged.

Save translation report[edit]

An option shown on the title screen, it generates a report about the currently-loaded language data stating which translations are missing, which are unnecessary, and other useful information for translators.

There are many options in this menu, and several sub-menus. The search bar in the top right will highlight options matching the search criteria, but the spelling must exactly match the name of the option or part of it.

Commands prefaced with with «T:» seem to temporarily alter the mouse behavior to do execute the command when left clicked and cancel this behavior when right clicked.

Commands ending with an ellipsis «…» can direct you to a submenu, but it can also do something different. Its meaning is currently unclear.

Make Colony (full) Spawns 26 colonists, which simulates having a full colony with all tech researched, with all buildings unlocked and every possible item (modded items as well). You can use this as a test to see what consumables, buildings, workbenches, apparel, weapons and other available stuff is added when reaching endgame. All buildable buildings, props decor, from the architecture tab will be spawned on an electric power grid shown in the picture below.     Еще вот что: рабочий стоит у кузнечного станка и делает шлем химзащиты. До конца работы 0%, а он стоит и делает. Как исправить?

    И как работает стол управляющего? У меня ни как :с

    Так по первых ссылка не открывается, но скорей всего отмени пусть по новой делает ( бывает несколько раз нужно), так же может быть, что не дописали код.
    Могу ошибаться но ставишь стол, делаешь указание в вкладке менеджмент и управляющий (поселенец) должен начать организовывать.
    А на будущие пиши в баги и ошибки.

    По поводу того что у станка стоит — там баг с материалом у заготовки. Придётся отменить, потеряв при этом часть ресурсов, и сделать заного. Чтобы уменьшить вероятность возникновения такого бага, постарайтесь материалы все необходимые для создаваемого предмета, класть поближе к станку. Насколько я заметила, этот баг чаще происходит, если тот кто делает вещь, бегает через пол базы за материалами. А когда рядом всё лежит, то случается ошибка гораздо реже. Вообще баги с крафтом это очень больная тема в версии 2.5, и очень серьёзно портят удовольствие от игры.
