I am trying to create data soucre using microsoft odbc administrator. I am running Windows 7 business 64 bit version. I have oracle 11g 64 bit instant client and the 64 bit ODBC drivers installed. The driver shows up when I click add but then I get a messages saying «The setup routines for the Oracle in instantclient11_1 ODBC driver could not be loaded due to system error code 193.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This error code means this:
- ERROR_BAD_EXE_FORMAT
- 193 (0xC1)
%1 is not a valid Win32 application.
If you are talking about ODBCAD32.exe, then it looks like the installation of the driver mis-registered a 32 bit driver ad 64 bit or vise-versa. It is trying to load either a 32 bit driver from the 64 bit version (C:windowssystem32odbcad32.exe) or trying to load a 64 bit driver from the 32 bit version (C:windowssyswow64odbcad32.exe). As the driver listing is determined by registry keys that are set on installation of the driver, it is likely that the driver installer has a fault which is causing it to be mis-registered with ODBC.
I would take this up with Oracle from here, I suppose.

I’ve been struggling to re-set up my ODBC for Oracle connection. My new laptop is Windows 10 pro, 64-bit. I’m running Access 2016.
I’ve been tinkering with the properties based on googling around. Below is a common solution provided, but it does not work.
Go to control panel -> administrative tools –> select data sources(ODBC) –> then right click on that file –> go to properties –> in the shortcut tab -> change the path from %windir%System32odbcad32.exe to %windir%SysWOW64odbcad32.exe
Does anyone know how to resolve?
- I have a Win7-64 bit OS
- I have MS Office 2010 32-bit installed
I manage the ODBC data sources via ControlPanel->SystemAndSecurity->AdministrativeTools->DataSources
In the UserDSN tab, I see an entry for «MS Access Database Microsoft Access Driver(*.mdb, *.accdb);
If I click on the ‘remove’ or ‘configure’ buttons for that entry, I get an Error code 193.
Note:
- I ran AccessDatabaseEngine.exe to make sure I have the 32 bit dlls.
- I can verify that the dlls exist in the 32 bit folder (Ex: C:Program Files (x86)Common Filesmicrosoft sharedOFFICE14ACEODBC.DLL)
What am I doing wrong? Am I missing something?

Ok, I figured it out. Basically if you run the C:WindowsSysWOW64odbcad32.exe the messages go away since you are now looking at 32 bit odbc connections and not 64 bit ones (which are the default when going through the Windows7 64-bit GUI) –

Problem
When creating a new ODBC map you receive the following error while attempting to create a record :
Specified driver could not be loaded due to system error 193: (Oracle in instanceclient_12_1, c:11.2.0instanceclient_12_1SQORA32.dll
Cause
The ODBC Data Source that is being used is not a 32 bit version.
In this case, the issue was that the Oracle 12.1 Instance Client 32 bit drivers were not installed, The Map Editor was trying to use the 64 bit drivers which cannot be used in the Map Editor ODBC connection.
Environment
Oracle Instant Client 12.1 64 bit drivers
Map Editor
Diagnosing The Problem
Verify that the ODBC Data Source that is being used for the map was created in the 32 bit environment.
Verify that the 32 bit drivers of the database software are installed and specified when creating the Data Source
Resolving The Problem
Go to database software website and download the 32 bit ODBC Drivers for the software version used.
