I’m trying to run the Windows installer for Xojo ADK but I’m getting an error as described in the subject. I’m using the defaults for all options in the installer. This is on Windows 10. I’ve attached a screen shot of the installer error.

What am I overlooking? Do I need to uninstall previous versions of Valentina?

I don’t run Xojo in Windows. The only reason I need to install is so I can grab the Vcomponents files for my app installation.

Is the Documents folder mapped to a non-standard location (not the C:UsersusernameDocuments, for example)?

The path appears to be C:UsersAdministratorDocuments

Administrator is the account I sign on with.

Problem solved. It was a mapping problem. It appears there was some kind of alias for the Documents folder pointing to a shared drive that no longer existed. I think this was a carryover from a previous installation of Windows 8 with VMWare.

It would show in the Windows Explorer sidebar but would give an error when I clicked on it saying it was not connected. I removed that and now the installer is working as expected.

According to the logs, it looks like you are installing WinMerge silently using software like System Center Configuration Manager instead of the usual way.
Is this my guess correct?

When I do a silent installation with administrative privileges, I get the following log output.

One interesting difference from your log is that the Created temporary directory line in your log does not include the user’s name.
Perhaps the account that installs WinMerge is not the same account that performs the usual GUI operations.
So I assume it is a failed attempt to get the desktop folder path.

Install as a normal user or pull requests are welcome.

  Hi im trying to d/l the new cont set up to a new laptop on xp and the setup get to the point of installing and that error appears

  ‘Internal Error: Failed to expand «group» constant’

  and says please correct the problem and run setup again.. i have no idea.

  Any help would be appreciated.

  I just got an installation file from getconinuum.com and installed it on my flash drive with no problems.

  A couple suggestions:
  first, it could possibly be a registry problem, get Spybot S&D (for it’s registry monitor TeaTimer, not for it’s spyware removal) and RegAlyzer from http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html and see if either of those can help you.

  second, after a couple minutes of googling your problem I found one solution: if you have a USB drive, download/install it on there and copy/paste, click/drag (whatever you feel like doing at the time) the installation on to the computer you’re trying to install it on.

  edit: or you could save yourself the trouble and run ss off your flash drive. that’s what I do at school.

  ive tried these with the same problems.. i think it has to do with the user I have access to not having admin access.

  similar problem happened when i tried to update flash player and cant install anything it seems, pretty annoying when its a shitly updated piece of crap anyway!

  her school it admin must have restricted all laptops!

  thanks for your help glacier but looks like I might have to look for a way around this.. i tried all the simple admin passwords with no luck.

  have you tried the flash drive idea? I had a friend from another game with the same problem (parents were limiting her access), told her to run it off of a USB and it worked fine

  I tried the USB thing.. but since its on this laptop I cannot install it on the usb pen as it wont allow anything like that.

  maybe i could install it on the pen on another unrestricted machine? worth a try.. ill give it a go and hope to see you in the trenches

  edit: doc i dont have admin access so dont think the first would work in cmd and my sis would get slapped by her it admin! booo hisss viva la flash pen!

Steps to Reproduce:

1. upgrade VSCode to June 2019 update 1

Does this issue occur when all extensions are disabled?: this was only an upgrade, the error occurs before launching

When upgrading from May to June VSCode releases (performed yesterday, July 13) , even the progress bar is finishing up, but before the final complete / Launch VS Code checkbox, an error pops up saying internal error failed to expand group constant. The only noticable result I found was that there is no start menu entry. This error only occurred when upgrading or reinstalling (which I also tried) the User install (rather than the system install). When I installed the system install, it seemed to go without error.

note: this upgrade occurred on the first launch after upgrading to Windows 1903 (from 1809).

We use folder redirection here and have had issues similar to this with other apps (GnuCash, UFile). The problem in our case was a result of a feature called Redirected Folder Migration*, which in some cases did not update the user’s registry settings to point to the new location after the migration was completed (note this migration might occur weeks after the GPO was set).

Anyway, it’s not that the entry was blank, but that it pointed to a SERVERSHARE that had been brought offline weeks earlier.

Running a gpupdate /force for every active user on every machine fixed our problem, as it updated the registry and then told the user he had to logoff / logon.

*Redirected Folder Migration allows an admin to specify that each user’s (e.g.) My Documents folder should be moved from one network location to another. It does this in a slow, measured fashion, the next time the user logs on to (any workstation on) the domain (so if your last user only logs on a month from now, the process takes a month to complete). It’s a lovely idea in theory, but in practice is a big PITA.

Incidentally, the ‘share doesn’t exist because it’s impersonating another user’ thing shouldn’t be an issue with properly redirected folders because the redirect should use a URL, not a mapped drive letter (e.g. \serverRedirectedUserFoldersSOME-USERMy Documents, although permissions might be an issue if you remove some default rights).

Проблема с виндоус 7. Помогите плиз!Короче, все началось после 2-ух месячного пользования виндуосом 7 максимальной. Сначала перестала работать персонализация (правой кнопкой мыши на раб столе) — пишет, что » Ошибка при выполнении приложения-сервера» . Ну, это пережить еще как-то можно. Но потом оказалось, что не работают свойства компа. Потом система вообще перестала обновляться пишет, что установлены 3 обновления, после выключения они якобы устанавливаются, но при последующем включении они опять устанавливаются и так без конца, и (кстати, при каждом включении система проверяет все мои диски, и безрезультатно). Но вот, в последнюю неделю большинство екзешных файлов вообще перестало запускаться. Пишет, что сервер возвратил ошибку. Кстати установочные файлы запускаются, но при 99 процов загрузки пишет, что Failed to expand «group» constant. Вот такие вот дела, пожалуйста помогите, кто чем может, а то систему сносить жалко. Ноут- Acer extensa 5620.
